The Senate has dropped plans to send a delegation of lawmakers to South Africa to protest the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in that country.

The Upper House of legislature announced the decision during plenary on Wednesday, March 8.

Only the House of Representatives will now send lawmakers to South Africa.

The Senate proceedings for the day began with an executive session after opening prayers.

The House was led by deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu, who standing in for senate president Bukola Saraki, who has travelled to Germany with another delegation.

Recall that Ekweremadu had been picked to lead the Senate's delegation to South Africa to probe the ongoing xenophobic attacks in that country.

Senate president Senator Saraki had announced the names at the opening of plenary on Wednesday, March 1.

Meanwhile, the Senate came under from Nigerians over the proposed trip. Some people accused the upper house of wastage of resources.

These folks have no one in mind but themselves and their families! Nigerians are target practice of insecure, lazy bums who pride in themselves and our very own politicians cannot make their presence known to the South African government, just to show the lives of Nigerians in SA matter.

A probable attack from South Africans on Nigerians might be much more devastating as it seems the government has deserted her own people. These are things that would not happen in saner climes.

How would Nigerians be considered important when her government thinks otherwise? Useless senate! angry
