Thanks much! That means the cup is paper right?

Yes it could be paper. But it could also be any other material like plastic or glass.

What material is the house printed on and how can it withstand the elements to last as long as they claim?

Wow... This is quite innovative. It would take at least 10yrs before such can be deployed here in Nigeria
10 years? We import toothpick and dat will take 5 years to manufacture and another 5 years to manufacture pencil.. This house will be seen in Nigeria when all this old cargoes who call themselves politicians will leave d political system and rest in peace.

A standard 3D printer used in printing buildings uses a mixture of ground construction and industrial materials such as glass and tailings, around a base of quick-drying cement mixed with a special hardening agent.

There's truly no limit to the power of man's imagination. These whites keep achieving unthinkable technological feats everyday while we Africans are fighting over mere issues like political party, tribe, religion & so on.

Is that the way it is meant to be?
Are we to remain like that till end of time?
How do we move out of our cocoon?

So many questions begging for answers.

No. The cup is not paper. They would have poured a polymer or liquid plastic into the machine. For this building, they poured wet cement into the machine.

The needle of d Machine will just be going round pouring d "ink" (in this case d ink is is cement) exactly as d specification on the computer until the whole thing is done.

3d printing machines are specialized so obviously d one dt can print a cup is way smaller dn d machine dt would build a house.

Judging by the way things have been going, it is doubtful if we can be able to move out of the cocoon as you call it anytime soon.
First of all we need to change our mindset ...

Going back to the farm is part of the solution, as long as we are talking about mechanized, large scale farming driven by ongoing research, and not the usual cutlass-and-hoe method.

Before now, building a house is one tedious work as it takes weeks and months to be completed. With the recent technology at our disposal everything is now becoming possible.

A company in Russia by the name Apis Cor have been able to create the world's first printed house in 3D. It took them only 24 hours to print the house from start to finish.

The house has a space of 400 square feet, has a living room, hallway, kitchen and a bathroom. The house frame was printed using concrete mixture while the windows and furnishing were manually placed.

According to the company, the house cost $10,000 dollars to print and can last up to 175 years.

What do they mean by ''Printed House'' was it built with cardboard and painted with Jet inks from a printing machine ?

Mtcheeeew! angry Nonsense, always using big grammer to fool people, well this is not new to me nor is it new to the world, Julius Berger had been practising this technology since 1900,, with concrete only one can build a house within a 24hour time frame, Cast-Mix concrete-Pour concrete-leave to dry. Your house is ready, it would only cost you much.

I celebrate this though grin
