Nah, there are other successful programmers out there who are not Atheists. Your religious belief has little or nothing to do with Programming.

well, for you to be a good programmer means you are a good thinker - you solve problems all the time. And good thinkers always have problems with religion.

That's where I am coming from. Once you start thinking deep, you'll begin to doubt religion.

Being a Programmer kinda resets your brain. You begin to apply Logic to everything.

Doesn't mean there aren't successful Religious Programmers.

You don't have to be an atheist before you can be a Geek but jez that your level of reasoning will be very strong ooh

You can't want to become an atheist because of that. But one thing though, Atheists think out of the box and are not limited by religious beliefs, so that can be a benefit in some way, but I don't know if you should just become an atheist because of that. Atheist don't hate 'GOD' or turn their backs on him, they don't believe GOD exists...there is a big difference there. So, in your case, you might still believe in God but turn your back on him just because you want to be a successful programmer.
