He died last night, after months of battling prostate cancer. He appeared like a white washed corpse those months. He looked like young Toba; skinny with an awkwardly protrude stomach and a rough hairless skin.

When he was a bit younger, he taught mathematics at St. Francis children school before he joined the convent. After several years of deliberating and fighting with his father over a decision that was to affect his family pedigree. His father did well sending him to Ida technical college but Rev. Ishaka spurned it. He served as altar boy at St. Mary Ida and the residing priest took a liking to him. Ishaka bragged, Ida experience was a mystical journey. How much he hated been there dissipated, in his word when he realized God's unfathomable mandate for him at Ida. He was amongst those who helped run the parish. One Sunday mass his faith helped heal a blind crippled man. This was it for Ishaka.
" God talks to me father, this is who I should be"
Father Amos just smirk at him, revealing his rotting upper middle tooth. "It's a lot of selfless work..."
Ishaka never really understood this not until he became a priest himself. All the selfless works one has to do as a priest before one gets old and ailing Ishaka did it. All his youth got evanesced in his selfless practice.

His father disowned him and his mother. Fathered a new son but as God will have it Ishaka buried his antagonistic father.

Today Ishaka is dead but he lives through another, the son he fathered. The one everyone thought was his prodigy: Jacob.

Jacob didn't attend the funeral. He remained at St. Jude Igamu. Locked himself inside his room. He could not bare to watch Rev. Ishaka lowered in a grave. Reverend Ishaka raised him from when he was orphaned at age four. The parish was his home. He was groomed in the service and bread with the communion. His movements were sternly regulated, same as his conduct. He didn't have friends outside the parish. He schooled in the parish school from kindergarten till he joined the junior convent.

He had no other family except Rev. Ishaka and Toba who was also breed by the reverend. Both of them became men of God like their foster father...

Reverend Ishaka and Jacob had not talked for a year, following a scuffle between the both party. Reverend Ishaka wanted him to remain at parish but Jacob insisted that God had spoken to him differently.

He did not see the priest before his demise even after been told of his ailment. Even after been told of how white and frail Rev. Ishaka appeared then. There was rumour that the Reverend caught aids having been a chronic wayfarer of the town's brothel. Jacob spurned the news, his own aggravation was the priest tirelessly trial towards thwarting his mandate. His mandate was clear, God wanted to start something big with him.

Jacob believes in what he tagged distance healing. He declared the priest be made whole again but he died. And words spread that his dying wish was to see Jacob again. Jacob blamed himself. "Man before God but Reverend Ishaka was not an ordinary man..."

Jacob was half asleep and half awake. He saw in a trance. Rev. Ishaka stood at his door frame. He wore a white garment that shines like the sun. He could not see his face but he saw that the lower part of the garment was torn beyond repair.

He was awaken by a bang on his door. He staggered and opened. It was Toba. Toba looked like death...
