On a side note, a friend of mine bought an LG 500GB Ext HDD at LG shop in V.I late last month for N21,000 & he said the LG 1terabyte Ext HDD was going for N26,000 then. I remember this cos I yabbed him that the 1 terabyte was cheaper and he should have bought that instead. So you could also check out the LG Ext HDD @ LG shop in V.I. It's not big and it comes with a cute leather pouch.

Abegiii, don't get a Western Digital. Once you play and watch like 4/5 films from the Ext HDD consecutively and it gets hot, the thing will start misbehaving.

any info on LG?

have a 120gb simpletech, 4 years old now

have a 320 and 500gb western digital - have had no issues with em

have a 500gb seagate momentus as my laptop secondary hard drive, no issues

don't watch movies per se so dunno about that

i game though, and i never had any issues - drives are laptop drives

i eventually got d LG 1TB

Hey Lynxmoon, how're you? As regards the external power hurdle, honestly. I don't think it will be for me, there are a lot of stuff that I'd rather not delete but have backed up for security reasons.

Well, bearing in mind that it'll be used as a backup drive, the risk are actually slim (for me). I already have a laptop with 320 GB which is more than enough for quotidian operations. As regards power outage during data transfer, this wouldn't be happening often enough to cause the disk to fail, granted bad clusters could be developed but we can't rule out the use of these devices due to the current power generation state in the country.
