A little girl from Ivory Coast who was born with four legs and two spines on her back has been successfully separated from a parasitic twins in a complex surgery at hospital.
She underwent a six hour procedures involving at least five surgeons at the Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, USA on 8th of march.

She is now thriving with a Chicago-based foster family who learned about the ten month old’s plight through Facebook.
They promised to look after her until she is well enough to return to her home town, her doctors and foster mother told Reuters on Monday.

‘It’s going rather well. She was only in the hospital an overall total of five days. She has now been home with step mother and doing very well said pediatric and reconstructive surgeon Frank Vicari.
‘There were many risks associated with detaching the parasitic twin – the greatest of including paralysis, spinal destabilization and closure of a big defect.
‘There also was a potential for impacting shared functions, including the urinary function.

‘Before going into the operating suite, our interdisciplinary team identified where in actuality the dangers will be and how we’d minimize them.
‘That way we were prepared for anything that might occur. And I’m pleased to say the surgery was profitable and Dominique posseses an excellent prognosis.’
Dominique was born with a parasitic twin. Underneath half of her not-fully-developed twin’s body protruded from her neck and back.
