The honest truth is that if you mess with the engine of these peugeot cars, you will need a loan to replace. Also, the only set back for me is the cost of their suspension systems, that's suppose to be wear items. And the fact that they all completely turn away from rear wheel drive to front shaft, aside that they are just ok.

From Statistics I have Personally Obeserved,the Auto Tranny is an issue with most 406 Auto car owners I know.

I Onced witnessed a situation that the gear couldn't engage in 4 or 5 and thus stopped at 3 leaving the Rpm at very High points. From the owners thought or assumption "he said" the problem usually developed from a component in the ECU that had to do with transmission

Like Siena Said, Although Am sure your 1st Prefference is an auto...I'll advice you Go for a manual.

Lastly: Peugeot 406 auto transmission is pure evil on wheels. It will destroy the owner and ruin him completely if he doesn't get rid of the evil from France. Your best bet is a manual transmission. Don't hate ignorantly. Get some knowledge about what you are peddling.
