]Hey guys. I came across this http://list25.com/25-normal-things-the-bible-forbids-but-we-still-do/ and decided to share.
The Bible is considered one of the most widely read books in the world and for many Jews and Christians is considered an absolute authority in guiding their morality and beliefs. However, many Christians nowadays commit sin after sin on a daily basis without even realizing it. See, the Bible forbids many of the things people love to do and in all honesty there’s nothing wrong with most of these things, at least by modern standards and the current status quo.
Since this topic is a little too sensitive though, considering also the wide spread hipocrisy among nigerian christians,we won’t say much more but will instead list chapters and lines from the books of the Bible that forbid some of the most normal and awesome things one could ever imagine, but nevertheless, you be the judge.

Masturbating

1 Corinthians 6:18 reads:
“Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.”
Some folks dont consider this as sin.

Wearing bling
1 Timothy 2:9 reads:
“Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments.”
1st Peter 3:3-4 reads:
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
Translation: We still can’t be sure about who killed 2Pac and Notorious BIG, but we know for sure that these two legendary rappers (just like most rappers who respect themselves) wore enough gold chains during their short lives that unfortunately might have cost them eternally.

Getting remarried after getting divorced
Mark 10:11–12 reads:
“Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.”
While not so prevalent, we cant deny the fact that it does happen.

Women Speaking in Church
1 Corinthians 14:34 reads:
“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.”
Translation: A rare moment when even in the twenty-first century a man can tell a woman to shut the hell up and not be accused of being misogynistic and sexist.

Premarital sex
There’s no point in listing one of the countless chapters and verses in the Bible that states premarital sex is a sin. That’s a fundamental Christian belief so there you go.

Hi,
I'm a little confused....
Your reason for posting this is........?
What is your suggestion for the "hypocritical" Nigerian Christians?
Do you have any encouragement for them?

So you use a scripture that is aimed at how Christian women should basically conduct themselves.....to explain two deceased American celebrity rappers and (who gave no evidence of having been followers of Christ..but who wore some jewelry) to say ......?
I'm confused here.

The worst of all in my opinion is premarital sex. It is now so widely accepted that you are considered abnormal if you don't engage in it.

Leviticus 19:19 reads:
“You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.”

Sorry for the confusion. Not all of nigerian christians are hypocrites of course but it is still prevalent, under the guise of 'modern trends' and 'un African beliefs. We tend to overlook the fact that sin is sin and judge others because their sin is un african or not popularly regarged as serious sin.

Wives helping out their husbands in a figh
Deuteronomy 25:11–12 reads:
“When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets.”
Translation: Just sit back and enjoy. If your man wins, then more power to you for marrying Chuck Norris. If he loses, just deal with the fact that you married a wimp.

Getting tattooed
Leviticus 19:28 reads:
“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.”
Translation: The little dolphin you tattooed on your butt cheek at age seventeen during spring break while you were drunk off your ass ultimately is sin.

Eating “weird” little animals
Leviticus 11:28–29 reads:
“These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, and the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.”

Ripped jeans and torn clothes
“And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.”
This is actually in the Bible.

Matthew 5:28 reads:
“But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Yes. I appreciate your comment. The original post has been modified. And for my refrence to 2pac and the likes, i did potray them in a good light. most of 2pac's songs, quotes, tatoo's lyrics and interviews containing any form of religion are geared towards christianity. But im speaking in a broad sense. They were good people to say the least.

nice post bro, thanks for the verses, I guess you really did a great job in pulling this all out of the achieve, I won't ask for permission, but I would copy some part of this for future reference, someone could come asking questions to defend themselves. It's very funny how many Christians today do somethings, well, we must always agree with Paul when he said, Eph 2:2-3, I believe the best form of deliverance is in two fold, enlighten, my people, and the other, intercession 1 Tim 2:1-8, the way out of this is not only posting lovely post, but also spending enormous time interceeding for those who fall into this category, because from experience, when I was dealing with one of the above, I really wanted to come out of it, many Christians are not happy going to church every Sunday, going on their knees to reunite their fellowship with God, I hardly could carry along till Thursday, no matter how I try, but I got into much prayers and Bible studying, and occasionally I still fall into sin, even when am trying my best, we wrestle not

The Old Testament instructions are not binding on the Church. The law of Moses has been abolished. If we follow the Old Testament rules, nobody will be alive.

Yes, some Christians still indulge in sinful acts like masturbation, pornography and pre marital sex which is not consistent with the Christian life.

God has also made provision for our mistakes. If you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness - 1st John 1:9.

But if the act of sin is carried on habitually, then it is no longer a mistake. Such person should go for counseling if you truly want to overcome it.

God is no respecter of persons. The wrath of God will fall on the children of disobedience - Colossians 3:6.

Pastors should try and balance the teachings of the word of God. So many Ministries no longer preach on righteousness and I think this also contributes to members living carelessly.

The bottom line is the choice is yours. If you live after the flesh, you will die but if you put your flesh under control, you will live.

You are right in the later part of your post though, but who abolished the law of Moses exactly? In Matthew’s record of what is commonly called, “The Sermon on the Mount,” these words of Jesus are recorded:
“Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets; I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished” (Mt. 5:17-18).
It is frequently argued that if Jesus did not “destroy” the law, then it must still be binding. Accordingly, such components as the “sabbath day” requirement must be operative still, along with, perhaps, numerous other elements of the Mosaic regime. This assumption is grounded upon a misunderstanding of the words and intent of this passage. But you are right that there is provision for those who ask for mercy from God as we are in the period of grace. But it doesnt mean we should disregard it.
