Re: Can You Answer This In Ten Seconds? by biafranbaby(m): 8:03pm On Mar 28, 2017
The answer is the square of the first number minus 2.

Example
32-2=7
52-2=23
72-2=47
92-2=79
102-2=98

The answer is 99 with proof

3×2=6+1=7
5×4=20+3=23
7×6=42+5=47
9×8=72+7=79
10×9=90+ 9 =99
Hence the proof. Show me likes if I'm right
Thee bolded supposed to be reduced by 1 just like the other multiples.
It is supposed to be 90 + 8 =98
Re: Can You Answer This In Ten Seconds? by ncoolsome(m): 8:22pm On Mar 28, 2017
10x8=80-9=71

3_2=2x5-3=7
5_4=4x7-5=23
7_6=6x9-7=47
9_8=8=8x11-9=79
11_10=this is where d issue lies..

9x12-10=98

Kindly advise people to take their likes back.

The first four equations have 2 seperating them as the descend.
The last equation has 1 separating it from the previous one.
kindly show all you've said in concised solution, we learn day by day. Not by grammers alone please

There are multiple answers to this... 99,119, and 98 are all valid answers.

Its simply 119
how did I get my answers
Subtract the first total from the second total and just add 8. What ever you get add it to the second total it would give u the next total, do it for all and you'll get the answer.
e.g
i) (23-7)+8=24
Then 24+23= 47.
ii) (47-23)+8=32
Then 32+47=79
iii) (79-47)+8= 40
Then 40+79= 119
and so on and so forth

Wrong grin
but using a*b +(2n-1) where n=1,2,3,4,5 The last one will be 10x9 +(2(5)-1) which will give 99
what makes 98 more accurate than 99

Wrong grin

The answer is 101, or can also be 101.
The answer can only be divided by its self without leaving a remainder (prime), and the also the sequence of 1,3,5,7 are all prime so the next one has to/ can be 11.
I.e 10*9+11= 101.

I'm not mathematician but I remember my maths from primary school that's why I can't use the right jargon lol.

If wrong please save us the trouble na

Addition of next prime number
the pattern is not prime but odd numbers

How do get the 8 you are adding to them each or it's just picked randomly.

98 *modified*

2*3 + (1) = 7
add 2...
5*4 +(3) = 23

7*6 + (5) = 47

9*8 + (7) = 79
add 1...
10*9 + (8 ) = 98

PaperLace:

Your answer is right, but there is no (clear) sequence between the numbers being added. Better still, express the 'sequence' 1,3,5,7 and 8, mathematically?

For, 1,3,5,7 and 9... we can easily express the sequence as (2n+1). Where 'n' is the term number. Simply put, a progression of odd numbers.. But for your 'sequence'...I can't see the rule to be applied.

verdict: there is a relationship,but no sequence _emphasis on sequence. wink
you guyz are just intelligent but that doesnt make you a good teacher. You will get your students more confused with your explanation. Now the add addition of odd numbers 1,3,5,7,9 will give us 99 as the answer, that is a sequence. But consider 98 as the answer too, even though those that arrived at the answer couldnt give us a concise approach how they got it. But in simplest term:
1 is deducted by each of the multiplier and the rest is added to the product of each equation:
that is why the final answer 10*9 =90+(9-1)=98. I de use small phone so I cant type more than this

Its math so you need to first identify the difference, in this case its a difference of 8
