To be politically relevant is to be recognized, celebrated and respected across any religious, political and ethnic divide.

Political relevance may not necessarily translate to electoral relevance

To be electorally relevant is to have a solid structure on ground that has the capacity to deliver election results in your favour.

You can be politically relevant and not electorally relevant. But you can't be electorally relevant and not be politically relevant.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is an example of a politically relevant but not electorally relevant statesman

Politicians across party lines love to consult with him ,to hear his thoughts and views on national issues. But they also know that he lacks the capacity and clout to determine which way the electorate will swing their votes. This takes nothing away from the great personality of the former President.

However, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is a perfect example of a politically and electorally relevant individual who has become an institution in our very eyes.

Happy 65th birthday to you sir.
