There are strong indications that the Presidency may covertly be planning to finally pull the rug off the feet of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, over what has been seen as an affront in the rejection of nominees for certain offices, generally regarded as President Mohammadu Buhari’s personal nominees.

Twice within three months, a nominee of the Presidency for the chairmanship of the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, was denied confirmation by the Senate, which premised its decision on security reports from the office of the Directorate of the State Security Services, which said that Magu was not suitable to hold any public office.

The head of the anti-graft agency had successfully prosecuted many sleazy politicians and other financial crimes offenders.

The Senate has been accused of using what has come to be described as Rugby–style tactic to deal with another favourite of the President, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hammed Ali, a retired Colonel, over non-wearing of Customs’ uniform before the Senate. Recall that Ali was shoved out by the Senate penultimate week for not wearing the uniform that depicts his position as a Comptroller-General of Customs.

Don't forget his favorite quote so soon. "He's for everyone and he belong to no one" what is happening now in the Senate must have taught him otherwise.

Buhari don't have what it takes to deal with Saraki. A man that cannot discipline his immediate staff like DSS director. He made a mistake by allowing Saraki to be elected senate president. And he has to live with Saraki's destructive scheming.

The thing dey tire me .. The nominees pass through the Senate for screening and it is either the person takes a bow or a knock.

Yes, the Constitution gives the Senate power to reject with reasons.

I don't understand if we want our Senate to be rubber stamp?

I need some clarity on this issue.

I taught the president has veto power to veto anything he wants irrespective of suggestions/rejections.

Yes but the NASS also have the power to override such with 2/3 majority ..

The executive and legislative should be at par at all times.

If the money spent on 'ante' corruption was used to for education, healthcare, or other ventures that could stimulate the economy Nigeria would have been better.

Absolute waste if time and resources.
Ur statement is unbelievable. ...aw can u spend money on a sector when their is corruption in dt sector, d money obviously finds its way into people's pocket and besides d entire efcc budget is far less dan 10 billion.

I doubt this buhari government can pull that string. They fleeced all the ample opportunity they had to pull the idiot saraki down.
