Edo State Government will engage at least 7,000 people within two weeks and construct no less than 3,000 kilometers of roads across the 3 senatorial districts in the space of three years, it emerged on Thursday.



This was as Governor Godwin Obaseki inspected newly reconstructed and rehabilitated roads including Ibiwe, Wire, TV, Plymouth and Ehiaekpen Roads in Benin metropolis recently.

A statement from the office of Mr John Mayaki, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor hinted that the Obaseki-led administration had concluded plans to construct the roads and that no less than 7,000 people, who have already registered in the ongoing Edo jobs initiative would be engaged in public works in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, the statement continued that Governor Obaseki is poised to fulfil the electoral campaign promises he made to the people of the state, especially in the area of road construction and rehabilitation.
He, however, continued that the cooperation of the people is the greatest asset the governor’s administration has enjoyed and will continue to enjoy – even in the midst of economic downturn – as they wait patiently for this government to deliver.
