FORMER head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has said that the coups and counter coups that followed his administration can only be explained to be for other considerations other than the defence of the Nigerian Unity. He stated this yesterday in Abuja at a book launch titled; ‘Vindication of a General’ written by Lieutenant General (Dr) Ishaya Rizi Bamaiyi. He also said that the role he played and the position he took during the 30months civil war was not planned but foisted on him by the circumstances of the politics of the time.

You have it all wrong. George Washington was fighting for the liberation of his fellow Americans from Britain.

Ojukwu was fighting for the liberation of his people from Nigeria.

Who was Gowon fighting to liberate? Nobody

Gowon fought so that him and his fellow Northerners can have access to oil money

You really think that if it were the Northerners that had the Oil, Gowon would have been fighting Ojukwu to keep Igbos in Nigeria so that Igbos will partake in enjoying the Oil wealth of the North?

'One Nigeria' has always been about Oil.
