Gov Bagudu To FG: Find Solution To Almajiri by Blue3k(m): 12:01pm On Mar 31, 2017
GOVERNOR Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has called on the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the menace of Almajiri and the clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

The governor made the appeal yesterday, when he received a delegation from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally-Displaced Persons, led by its Federal Commissioner, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the governor, the Almajiri problem was a systemic problem that needed continuous attention of the Federal Government.

He said: “The issues of Almajiri and herdsmen have often been ignored and seen just as a nuisance without any durable plan to address the challenges.

“We have brought up the issues, believing it is within your sphere as there is no agency in the country dedicated to dealing with both issues.”

He said that apart from education aspect, there was lack of Federal Government establishment dedicated to handle the issues of Almajiri and herdsmen, which were also migratory issues.

People bringing up Jonathan Almajiri schools in 5 4 3 2...

All jokes aside honestly though hasn't federal government been doing stuff regarding northern education. The federal government hardly even acknowledges herdsmen issue. They tried to push for National reserves and settles for Army ranching cattle.

Cattle reserves should be a state issue.

Buhari would be the last person to help Almajiri people. He wants them poor as church rat so he can use them to satisfy his political whims and caprices .
Dr Jonathan on the other hand was God sent to the Almajiris. GEJ built schools and colleges for these very poor and helpless people.

How would FG government tackle this issue. Would they approve more funding there, enforce mandatory schooling. The states have thier role in the systemic problem. I think some people from north who understand this issue better should contribute to this thread.

I would say build less mosques and more school as in case of Jigawa. The same sentiments was suggested by Emir of Kano. This issue is important but the thread doesn't seem to generate much traffic.
