hopefulLandlord:
Let me tell you about my wife, Rachel.
I first met Rachel five years ago when her friend Emma conferred that she knew of a girl with a major crush on me. She spoke glowingly of Rachel, describing her as the most beautiful, kind, precocious, and driven young woman I could ever have the pleasure to meet. Even better, averred Emma, Rachel fervently desired to meet me and enter into a romantic relationship. Intrigued, and more than a bit flattered, I asked for more information.

Thankfully, Emma produced incontrovertible evidence: A series of written letters composed by Emma's and Rachel's mutual acquaintance, Sarah. In these letters, Sarah waxed eloquent on Rachel's character, promulgating her nigh perfection in every conceivable way. However preposterous it may have seemed, Rachel came to my university for the express purpose of initiating a romantic relationship with me! She loved me before I ever graduated high school, and thus she paid her only begotten college funds to attend my school, so that if I chose to believe in her love, she would be my everlasting wife. And, best of all, she happened to be a virgin...

I confess that I found myself smitten with Rachel almost immediately. Therefore, I inquired with Emma how I might go about initiating the proffered romantic relationship. The answer was ludicrously simple. I merely needed to profess my love for Rachel, ask her to be my wife, and she would comply.
I wed Rachel on that very day.

Life with Rachel simply could not be better. I feel so grateful to call her my wife. She is simply the single greatest person I have ever met, and she makes me a better person every day. Now, while I confessedly have never seen Rachel face to face, I firmly contend that I never feel more alive than when I read Sarah's letters about Rachel, or when Emma and I commune and we both luxuriate in Rachel's irresistible grace. Sometimes Emma and I sing songs in order to marvel at how amazing Rachel is. Sometimes I write letters to Rachel, and though she never replies I know that she listens because Emma assures me that this is the case.

Some people insinuate that their spouses verbally speak with them, and even occasionally participate in coital relations. Frankly, I do not find such accounts compelling. While I see the appeal of a physical relationship, I contend that my marriage is far superior to that of my peers. The transcendent feeling of my love for Rachel supersedes any doubts I may have. Nothing could be more real than our marriage.
End story.

Was that not all a trifle sophomoric?
In the Christian communities I grew up in, everyone invariably described their "relationship" with Jesus in such glowing, saccharine terms. Being young and credulous, I believed them. I heard such wonderful things ascribed to Jesus that I wanted to have a relationship with him, too. I realized much later the endemic flaw.

You see, I have relationships with other people. I have friends. I have family members. As a function of our relationships, here are some mutual activities we engage in:
1. We talk. We speak audibly. We induce oscillations of the vocal cords so as to convey meaning to one another.
2. We hang out. We watch movies, play board/video games, play sports.
3. We touch. We make physical contact. We alternately vie for the same point in a three-dimensional plane, thereby compelling our respective atoms and molecules and constituent particles to repel and produce the sensation of collision.
4. We look at each other. We observe one another with optical sensors. We collect light rays, translating them into nerve impulses that travel into the brain and get inverted so as to produce a useful visual simulacrum of our respective persons.
I could go on, but that would be pedantry.

My "relationship" with Jesus fulfilled precisely none of those criteria. Whatsoever.

He never spoke to me, he never hugged me like my parents did, he never appeared to me. He refused, despite my intrinsic and intense desire to do all of these

The Carnal Mind versus the Mind of Christ

Carnal Mind versus the Mind of Christ

A. Carnal Mind
The carnal mind is the mind of the flesh.
It means walking according to reasoning dictated by what your five senses (see, hear, touch, smell, feel) are telling you.
Your senses are not reliable guides, because they are often contradicting what the Word of God says.
Carnal or flesh is the Greek word "sarx" (456l - Greek) meaning external, human nature, body.
Romans 8:6,7 gives more insight about the carnal mind.
a. The carnal mind is death (verse 6).
b. The carnal mind is enmity (hostility, hatred) against God; it is not
subject to the law of God nor can it be (verse 7).
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 gives additional understanding of the meaning of carnal.
a. If you are carnal, you are not spiritually mature, but you are a babe in
Christ (verse 1).
b. Carnal people are not able to receive solid food, but only milk (verse 2).
1. Hebrews 5:13 tells us that those who partake of only milk are
unskilled in the word of righteousness, because they are babes.
2. 1 Peter 2:2 says "As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the
Word, that you may grow thereby." When we are first born again, we
are like newborn babies, who can only tolerate milk. Likewise in the
Spirit, when we are new in the things of the Lord, we start out with the
milk of the Word. But notice the last three words of that verse - may
grow thereby. The milk is intended to start you growing. We are not
supposed to remain babies, but rather we are to grow up in all
things into Him, Who is the head - Christ (Ephesians 4:15) and
become His flesh body in the earth.
c. Carnal people walk in envy, strife, and division, behaving like mere men
(walking according to man) (verse 3).
2 Corinthians 10:4: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds."
a. Our weapons of warfare are not carnal (of the flesh).
b. Our weapons are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds.
c. 1 Timothy 6:12a: "Fight the good fight of faith." This is the ONLY fight a
Christian ever has! Our fight is NOT with the devil. He has already been
defeated.
Colossians 2:15: "And having spoiled principalities and powers, He
made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."
1 John 3:8: "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth
from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that He might destroy the works of the devil."
Hebrews 2:14,15: "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of
flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that
through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that
is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their
lifetime subject to bondage."
d. What is the good fight of faith?
1. It is understanding and receiving our position in Christ.
2. It is submitting to God and resisting the devil. "Therefore submit to
God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)
a. Submit to God. He is your Father; yield to His Spirit.
b. Resist the devil. 1 Peter 5:9 says to resist the devil steadfast in the
faith.
1. In the faith - in our position in Him using His faith.
2. Resist him with the Word of God. Jesus is our example in Luke
4:1-13 and Matthew 4:1-11. These scriptures refer to Jesus in
the wilderness and being tempted by the devil. He resisted him
by saying what was written in the Word of God.
Romans 8:8: "So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God."
a. The word please means to be agreeable with. When we walk in the
flesh, we cannot be in agreement with God and His Word. Amos 3:3
says, "Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?"
Romans 8:9a: "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you."
a. If you have accepted Christ, then you are born again and God's Word
says you are not in the flesh. God says you are in the Spirit if His Spirit
dwells in you.
b. Father God wants us to change minds. Reckon our carnal mind dead
(Romans 6:11) and use His - the mind of Christ. That is why He gave it
to us so we could think like Him and live in victory.
B. The Mind of Christ
The mind of Christ is exactly what it says - it is HIS mind. When we were born again, we were given this mind (1 Corinthians 2:16).
The mind of Christ is also known as the mind of the Spirit (Romans 8:6).
a. It is life and peace.
b. This mind reveals to us the great things God has in store for us. "But as
it is written, eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love
Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit; for the Spirit
searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (1 Corinthians
2:9,10)"
c. The mind of Christ or the mind of the Spirit reveals to us what has been
freely given to us by God. "Now we received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are
freely given to us of God (1 Corinthians 2:12)."
d. It enables us to spiritually discern the things of the Spirit of God.
"Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom
teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual
things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the
Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know
them, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:13,14)."
When we accepted Christ as our Savior, 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that we became a new creature in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ is the new creature; there is only ONE new creature and that is Him. We become a new creature when we are put into Him.
a. At salvation, the Spirit baptizes us into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians
12:13a: "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one Body"wink.
b. At salvation, God establishes and anoints us in Christ (2 Corinthians
1:21: "Now He which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath
anointed us, is God"wink.
c. This is how we receive His mind - we are put INTO HIM. Our old man
died - the one with the carnal mind - and we were raised up with Christ.
We are seated together with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6:
"And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus"wink and we use the SAME mind as He does.
We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. "And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2)."
a. The word transformed means to be changed and the word renewing
means freshness, new. We are changed from the life of the old man to
the life of the new man when we use His mind. We "exercise" His mind
by speaking (Proverbs 18:21 says death and life are in the power of the
tongue).
b. Colossians 3:10: "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in
knowledge after the image of Him that created him." Jesus is the new
man; He is the one with the renewed (fresh, new) mind. We are to put
on (receive) Him and use His mind.
God's thoughts differ from man's thoughts.
a. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,"
says the Lord, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My
ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts
(Isaiah 55:8, 9)."
1. The mind of Christ and the carnal mind are opposed to one another.
His thoughts are not our thoughts (of the flesh).
2. His ways are not our ways (of the flesh). Proverbs 23:7a says, "As a
man thinks in his heart, so is he." How you think is how you will act.
If you allow your carnal mind to rule, your ways will be opposite
God's ways.
God speaks the end from the beginning.
a. "God gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as
though they did (Romans 4:17)".
b. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of
God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which
are visible (Hebrews 11:3)."
c. "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the
things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will
do all my pleasure (Isaiah 46:10)."

I hear voices in my head they talk to me, they tell me what i should do to you....they talk to meeee smiley

Like the voice of a father in your head telling you son...this thing you want to do is against what i have taught you all these years....
He is not standing there with you but you can hear his voice in your head, check around and your phone is not to your ears but you know the voice said so....

All your life you can boast of reading at least a page of book everyday, you have read several novels, journals, blogs, etc but you open that book of books not for your first time...and as you read you get a picture of that verse, you hear a voice telling you about that word, that line, that phrase...

Open the eyes of our understanding oh Lord!!

The voice of the Spirit of God Almighty, he speaks expressly

1 Timothy 4:1

Now the Spirit of God Almighty's speaking expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith in Christ Jesus, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth in Christ Jesus.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and your prayer. If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, where unto you had attained.

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Have you heard the voice of the lord God Almighty or only the thought of your mind. Many claim they have heard his voice whereas they are referring to their thoughts. " His thoughts are not of mortal men and his ways are higher than men

How then do you hear his voice?

1 His voice isn't something you can hear with your ears, seen with your optical eyes and imagine with your heart. Your heart is the end of your mind.

2 it's only revealed to you by his Spirit which is in you and whom you have no clue about

3 No one knows what a man is thinking except the spirit of that man, the same way, no one knows what the lord God Almighty is thinking except the Holy Spirit

4 Only by the Holy Spirit will you hear his voice.

Admit and welcome the presence of God Almighty in you today......

You tried but your topic is above you.

Seek a spiritual mentor..

Read your Bible everyday..

The Bible instructs, "If you want Wisdom, ask God and He will give you"..
Thesame applies to anything you want to see God for. Just ask by Prayer and God will be right there before you.

When topics like this come up, instead of those who have practical knowledge of how to experience the subject matter to state the practical steps they took to get their own experience, the best they do is to start quoting bible. Someone says seek a mentor, why can't you mentor us on this thread?
These further proves that these things probably don't really exist because Jesus was more practical than theoretical according to the bible but nowadays, christianity is more abstract and theoretical than practical. Meanwhile, now is all we can prove.

This won't make sense to you anyway if the Holy Spirit isn't in you..... But if he's inside and acknowledge by your Spirit, then all is clear

Good question Brother, first you must believe with all your thoughts without doubt in your mind that Jesus the Son of God was actually raised from the dead and confess to yourself and to anyone who cares to listen that, that man born of the virgin mary is the Son of God and that his name is above every other names, and the lord of all creatures to the glory of his father God Almighty..

Then, after that, you humbly request to receive the promised Holy Spirit who is to come and reproof the world of senses of their sins, of righteousness and of judgement.

Of sin because they don't believe Jesus is the CHRIST who is lord of all things, the religious folks asked for signs and the educated fellows asked for proofs facts of his Originality

Hear Jesus Christ speak

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. He that hates me hates my Father also.

If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father-the works and the worker

But this comes to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law,

"They hated me without a cause".

He speaks of the Holy Spirit

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And you, my disciples also shall bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

Of righteousness because Jesus goes to heaven and this wicked and unreasonable men won't see him again.
