Obayagbona Emmanuel Imafidon revealed that he developed a power-generating device that can end blackout. He said this has been certified by professors from the University of Nigeria. The engineering graduate said he needed the support of the government to fully develop it A Nigerian engineer, Obayagbona Emmanuel Imafidon, has revealed that he has invented a power-generating device that can solve the problem power outage in the country. In an interview with Guardian, the graduate of Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu said he could generate power from thunder lightning and that he has been working on it since 2006. Harvesting Lightning is not a new concept which a lot of result have gone into which shows a lot of Brickhill that have made it not achievable , first and foremost the world currently consumes more electricity than all the lightning strikes combined in a year can produce , secondly only lightning that strike the ground can be harvested and that accounts for about 20 percent of all Lightning strikes as most occur between clouds and can take be harvested , 3rd to harvest lightning safely you super arrestor each bigger and more expensive than the eiffel tower will have to be be set up randomly with a high chance of not even getting struck for long periods.. 4THLY there currently no no storage or battery available to wheel and store so much power in under 5 second because that's how long most strikes last ....Bottom line is that this guy's idea is not feasible and he still clearly doesn't even know the difference between Thunder and lightning |

Lol u can't generate electricity from electricity I can only trap ,store and reuse ...but the occurrence of thunder is just too random for this to make sense |

Is it marketable? |
Re: Nigerian Engineer Invents Power-generating Device That Can End Blackout by MrMaestro: 5:17pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
mrvitalis: Well if you have a highly conductive and tall material in a vast area of non-conducting material, it is highly likely that the lightning will engage with that material, which can then trap the electricity and use it for power. |

I believe the engineer meant his device utilizes lightening and not thunder. |

mrvitalis:Good point. But is there any electricity in thunder? Thought it was composed of just sound energy |

MrMaestro: How do u predict were the thunderstorm will hit and when ?? That's the main issue |

Stephychiky: See naijaman wants to connect with thunder when every other electrical / power generating engineer is praying and running away from it. The govt better send this guy to yaba left. |
