About 328 persons have been confirmed dead by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)in the latest outbreak of meningitis and 2,524 suspected cases in different parts of Nigeria. Among the states affected, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and Niger have been listed as the most affected by theChief Executive Officer of NCDC, Dr. Chikezie Ihekweazu. He said that the disease has spread to 16 out of the 36 states and about five people have died in Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The outbreak which started in Zamfara has spread to other states.
