Dear Nigerian agriculture stakeholder,

Despite the challenges in the nation’s economy, the agricultural sector continues to experience sizable growth and is a productive and competitive force for national economic development. To this end, operators in the agricultural space who are making things happen, deserve to be recognized.

The Nigeria Agriculture Awards (NAA) was birthed on the 19th of November, 2014 as a veritable platform to celebrate agricultural achievements by recognizing the outstanding contributions of identified stakeholders. This prestigious event has since been acknowledged as the ultimate medium for celebrating excellence in the agro-allied sphere.
The first and second editions of the NAA held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos – the 2nd Edition in particular was beamed live on television.

Convinced that such special recognition of individuals and corporate organizations who have distinguished themselves as critical actors in the agricultural sector will serve as motivation to other stakeholders to follow suit, the organizers of the NAA, have remained steadfast in staging the event – while improving on its depth and quality.

Against this backdrop, this year’s NAA promises a thrilling experience. With over 20 award categories, NAA2016/17 will boast of such awards like: The Pillar of Agriculture; reserved for persons who have dedicated their lives to agricultural development in Nigeria. This category is a top-notch lifetime award determined solely by the Award Committee. A key unique feature of this year’s event will be the robust concentration on the younger generation. Thus, in addition to the Nagropreneur of the year award – in recognition of a young agricultural sector investor(s) who has made a distinctive mark via an agro-investment undertaking – the Award Committee is introducing the Pupil Farmer of the year and the Agro-Strategist of the year Awards which focus on students in Secondary and Tertiary educational institutions. Another key addition is the Diasporan Agribusiness Company award, a direct response to the increased interest of the Nigerian Diaspora community in local agro-productivity.

The New Award Structure

NAA2016/17 which is set to hold on the 7th of April, 2017 at Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos will select prospective recipients based on substantiated nominations in line with set criteria.

The nomination Portal for NAA2016/17 is now open on the AgroNigeria website (www.agronigeria.com.ng ) with https://agronigeria.com.ng/naa2016/17nomination/ as a direct link to the nomination page.

Chairman of the Award Committee, Professor E. Ikani in an official release, enjoined agricultural stakeholders and indeed all members of the larger Nigerian public to join in the process of recognizing the men, women, businesses and institutions who have contributed to Nigeria’s re-emergence as a veritable force in agriculture.

As the Director General of the NAA2016/17 Secretariat, I am glad to inform you of the structure of this year’s Award process.

The Process is kicked-off by lodging a nomination for a specific category over a 2week period. The Award Committee then audits the nominations to put up those to be eligible for voting (except for #CloseCircuitedCategories). Once voting is opened, the Public can vote for nominees of their choice and the result of the voting will be announced at the dinner.

The Nigeria Agriculture Awards is convened yearly by AgroNigeria, a brand which, over the last 11 years, has been dedicated to achieving agricultural rebirth in the country.

This is the kind of thing most of us should be interested in. Because it is tit for tat.

We help him, he adds more value to us.

Tuface is my music mentor, but I'm Gon vote world1 for two reasons.

1. He is a Nairalander

2. I'm a beneficiary of his #GoGreener initiative.
