Aston Villa ran into a solid brick wall at the Emirates when the Gunners effectively dispatched them with a 3 - 0 victory. Tough fixtures for Martin O'Neill.  .  .next, they face Liverpool at home.
Aston Villa are 3 points away from 3rd placed Arsenal on the table, and a win will temporarily level them with Arsenal.  .  .the Gunners have got two fixtures coming up.
Martin O'Neill has got no injury worries (Emile Heskey should make the bench), and on the surface, his players seem to be in okay form. Remains to be seen how well the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, and James Milner will do against an improved Liverpool side.

Liverpool are on a slow but seemingly steady climb back up the table after defeating Wigan 2 - 0 at home over the weekend. With the victory, some of the pressure left coach Rafa Benitez.  .  .but that could be temporary, depending on how this game goes.
Liverpool will need to improve on their ball retention, as well as their defending. These were obvious lapses during the match against Wigan.
With no serious injury worries, and Aquilani looking set to become a regular first team starter, a win just might be possible. Aquilani provided some vital midfield touches during the Wigan game.
Benitez will still be without Javier Mascherano who remains suspended, and remains injured as well.
