-Illegal Caretaker Committee Agents received 4.5 million naira to wreck havoc on Elected Executives.

-OKICHE, Peter C.
Reporting from Awka, Anambra State.

On Thursday 6th of April 2017, a certain number of youths disguised as hoodlums, parading themselves as Caretaker Committee members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter and backed up by some forces within the circle of government, broke into the office of an elected Council Chairman and the Youth House at #4 Regina Caeli Road, Awka in Anambra State.

As at the time of filing this report, we gathered that the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State held a successful congress and election on 21st March 2017. Before then, some aides in charge of youth affairs working for the governor, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development under the government of the state tried to create problems in other to set up a kangaroo caretaker committee for their selfish interest and aggrandisement in the state's 2017 gubernatorial elections. This process was thwarted by the executives of the Youth Council who insisted that there was no problem in the council and according to the constitution, elections must hold.

These government elements decided to take a plan B by sponsoring a very weak candidate in the election with a directive that he must cause havoc if he loses at the elections. The intention is to create a scenario of problems in the council so that the few selfish aides in government can present a council in disarray to the world. This plan also failed as their sponsored candidate failed woefully at the polls. The pictures and video recordings bear evidence to these facts.

The next step taken by these crooks in government was to set up a kangaroo caretaker committee at a private hotel in Amawbia and appointed one of their fellow government appointees as a caretaker committee chairman. These facts are verifiable and are public knowledge in the state as at today. These power drunken and selfish aides who only have their pockets as a manifesto used their political position to have a meeting with the governor and in less than 48 hours after the meeting, they burgled and broke into the Youth House by violence.

This is an election year in Anambra State and some agents of government have been mandated to thwart any election into key organizations in the state so that the incumbent governor who has performed below par can have less issues at the November 18 polls. Instead of an election, the state government set up a committee at the local government levels in line with their November 18 gang up against the good people of the state.

To achieve this goal of disunity in the youth council, investigations show that 4.5 million naira was given to these agents to launch a coordinated attack on the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter to put the council in disarray and frustrate the elected Chairman and executives of the Council who came into power on the 21st day of March, 2017 at the Council's 2017 Congress which held at Awka, Anambra State.

It is held on good authority that the agents and appointed aides of the government are trying hard to create problems in the council because they were promised juicy new positions, new Hilux vans and plots of land in choice areas of the state if they succeeded in scattering the council for the gubernatorial election so that youths in the state will be scattered. Some of them have gone behind others to collect money and dupe innocent top officials of the government to achieve this aim.

On the evening of 4th April 2017 at a hotel in Awka, two of the youths in the kangaroo caretaker committee brainwashed and received over 475,000 Thousand Naira from a top official who has the ears of the governor. They promised him that they will mobilize youths to attend a rally he is planning for the governor. Other members of the committee are not aware of this and they are planning to keep on doing this scam since top aides and agents of the governor hid the 4.5 million naira that was released for the assault on the Elected Executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the state.

According to the constitution of the NYCN, the State government has no powers to interfere in the council's elections because Council is a Federal establishment and not state. That is why it is National and not State Council. But the desperation of the governor's aides given his colossal failure in office have made them to throw all cautions to the wind while boasting that nothing will happen.

Concerned citizens of Nigeria and the state are called to salvage this matter and impress upon the state government to allow the Elected Executives function peacefully. In spite of the onslaught by the agents of the government, the elected executives have attracted an agricultural scholarship for youths in the state and are doing more with less.

A new war is breeding in the state as the House of Assembly members have resolved to impeach the Speaker of the House who is a known stooge of the governor who is well known for working on pages of newspapers and award ceremonies. Details coming soon.

We shall keep you updated on this matter.
