A former Governor of Ekiti State and current Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, has said he would not take issue with his successor , Governor Ayodele Fayose .
He stated that he had chosen not to reply Fayose who has been attacking him because the governor enjoyed entertaining the people.
Fayemi said this in Ado Ekiti while replying questions from journalists during a visit to the family of his late deputy , Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, for the death of the late Olayinka’ s father , Pa Festus Famuagun, on Saturday.
Fayose had, last week, accused Fayemi of plotting to manipulate the Supreme Court Justices to remove him from office .
He said the new plot was in furtherance to his earlier allegation that Fayemi , in collaboration with leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti and Abuja , were seeking to return to power through the backdoor , by enlisting a section of the judiciary to revisit the 2014 governorship election in the state.
Fayemi, however , said , “ I have told you several times that I won ’ t discuss the present governor of Ekiti State on any issue ; and on this issue, I won ’ t dignify him with a response.
“ This is a free world . As you know , anybody can propagate any idea as he deems fit . I don ’ t belong to the mud and I don’ t want to be dragged in the mud .
“ He is free to say whatever he likes and just let him continue to entertain the people or himself. ”
On the entourage with the minister was his former deputy and new Chairman , National Board for Technical Education , Prof. Modupe Adelabu.
The former governor described Pa Famuagun as an asset to Ekiti State , praising God for giving the deceased the opportunity to live a good life.
“ Pa Famuagun was not just a father , he was a confidant. We thank God for his life because he served God and humanity. Even at old age, he kept on sending messages to me and asking after everybody .
“ His death to me was like losing a loved one . But we will emulate his good virtues and this I believe is the best we can do to honour him . ”
But in response, the Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to Fayose , Mr . Lere Olayinka, said Fayemi was living in a fool’ s paradise if he thought he could come back through the back door.
