A walk for health and fitness with Ojomu Taiwo
the 25th of March 2017, the residents of Somolu partook in the walk for health & fitness organized by Ojomu Taiwo Foundation. The program, which is by trait a humanitarian genre, left attendees buried in the mood of utmost excitement as it was staged to address prevalent health challenges of the people. Following the success of the program, beneficiaries who were astonished, graced the streets with praises of the OJT foundation and eulogized the efficacy of their existence to the massive Progress of the community.

However, this event which has made it into record as the first of its kind in Somolu, was chaired by an All Progressive Congress ( APC) chairmanship aspirant in Somolu local Government, Ojomu Taiwo, whose enviable contributions in the community over the years has reached a commendable height. Speaking with news agency at kick off point of program at Eledie, he highlighted why taking a long walk daily is germane for one to live a healthy lifestyle.

By record of attendance, over one thousand five hundred people made up of artisans, students, market women, medical practitioners, APC excos and members were part of the walk under the lead of Ojomu Taiwo, who ensured they were all attended to by the medical experts contracted by his foundation.
Upon their arrival at the Somolu Local Government council after the walk, the old men and women among the attattendees were all given free medical treatment and provided with topnotch medical services, which include free medical checkup, Counseling, prescriptions and free drugs administered by professional doctors and pharmaceutical experts. Again it was reported that the number of people present almost doubled and outweighed the capacity of the hall as the first set of beneficiaries spread the information to others, who initially were not aware of the program through word of mouth.

While also admonishing them to say no to odious politics, Ojomu Taiwo went further to describe the term as a vice that strips off mental and spirited motivations from a people and sets them ablaze on a path of jeopardy. In his words, “leadership, as I often admit, is a concern for the people; it is that which waters our hope and brings to life our dreams and aspirations as a people.” At the verge of rounding up his speech, he reassured the people of his intentions to introduce more initiatives committed to ameliorate their social welfare.
Ojomu Taiwo, who proudly called himself a protege of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinimbu, disclosed to public that the project was to commemorate the great leader of the All Progressive Congress on his birthday which falls a day after the commencement of the event. He also described the Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinimbu as a beacon of justice and a rolemodel from whom future Leaders should draw inspiration.

It could be recalled that Ojomu Taiwo ------in almost a close succession, organized two other programs that appear worthy as the above mentioned one, as he has since then been extolled by the Somolu public. First was a thirty days Street Soccer Competition for the youths which gave birth to series of historic entertainment footages, as the entire community flooded the match venue where the battle clash between the participating teams took place. According to him, the motive behind the program was to create a bond of unity among the people, noting that one of his ultimate goal is to transform Shomolu into a peaceful and hospitable home for all.

The second event inline, proved him as a man with no religious biases. He organized a twenty days iftar program for the Muslim community during the 2016 Ramadan where he provided them with sufficient food for refreshment after fast. This is a rare case especially in a country like Nigeria where religious segregation and turbulence is a common plight, as most re still in awe trying to reconcile his business as a Christian with the affairs of the Islam brethren. But Ojomo Taiwo, whose track record reveals he is free from being unjust in disposition , retorted to questions springing from some curious few as a result, by saying his leadership style bears no atom of religious prejudice.
These heroic act of his however, from the grass root view, has projected him as the man of the people.
