Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday underlined the necessity for the formation of a strong united front against the enemies of Islam.

"The conditions dominant in a large number of Islamic countries necessitates formation of a strong united front against enemies," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Somalia's Foreign Minister Ahmad Ali Jangeli here in Tehran.

"The enemies are seeking to hinder unity and integrity of the Islamic states in a bid to achieve their devilish goals," the Iranian president warned.

Commenting on Iran-Somalia relations, Ahmadinejad said that Somalia enjoys rich natural and human resources, and added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes further strengthening and deepening of ties and relations between the two countries."

During the meeting, Jangeli expressed gratitude for his meeting with Ahmadinejad, and stressed expansion of the two countries' ties.

Reminding Iran's age-old history and civilization, the minister said that Tehran-Mogadishu ties should be strengthened.
