No fewer than three soldiers were killed and many others wounded, when Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military base in southern part of Borno State on Sunday, security sources have told SaharaReporters.

According to the sources, the terrorists attacked the military base in Sabon Gari town, Damboa Local Government Area, at about 5:30 pm. Sabon Gari is located 20 kilometers from Damboa, headquarters of the local government area.

On arrival in a utility vehicle, the terrorists engaged the troops in a fierce gun duel and subsequently overpowered them. They then looted the armory and razed down the facility.

"They went straight to the barracks and destroyed it. They burnt down the signal office, two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), a Hilux van mounted with AA guns and killed three soldiers. They injured many others and looted food items and ammunition," said a source.
