Hmmm, just realised that quite apart from all the other things, tribalism isn't clever; as soon as it enters a thread, thread ceases to be informative, it becomes narrow and boring, especially to those that are likely important to tribalists, those whom they wish to impress - namely the outsiders, the sideliners, the rest of the world effectively. 2 Likes |

Mrchippychappy: Absolutely. Those are true African actors who kept their act natural. They made movies that Africans all over the world understood and could relate to. Even our mothers and grandmother's knew the actors by name and understood the movies. Not those western imitation movies with big big names, fake foreign assents, bleached skins, nudities etc. 1 Like |

Drienzia:Did you read this part below? Most films have budgets of about $25,000 and are shot in a week. Once completed in Asaba, the movies find their way to every corner of Africa, released in the original English, dubbed into French or African languages" |

I tire o. Must everything be tribal? Nollywood has almost all tribes, the S/S have a large contribution too, same the S/W and middle belt. Ordinary Nollywood thread turned into a tribal debacle, may God help us 2 Likes |

loved21: This is a thread. and it is defined by Oxford dictionary as: A series of messages, generally grouped by subject, in which all messages except the first are replies to previous messages in the thread. In line with the above definition, is there any need to quote the whole epistle just to comment? Na wa for some of una here o |

You know what it might be? I reckon it's backwardness, backwardness is boring. Progress is exciting. Tribalism is backward. If you think of it, what attracted scores of readers to this thread, was the prospect of reading about the supposed evolution of Nollywood. The thought of its progress fired the imagination. Seems as if Humans are built to evolve, to seek the next horizon. Folks are excited about manned missions to mars, they want to read about Eko Atlantic, or plans for Niger Delta along the lines of Eko Atlantic. Prospects of harbours, airports and industrial cities in Enugu, Onitsha, Kano; new and advanced fighters for the Nigerian air force all makes the blood surge in the vein. Conversely, images of old women stripped naked and stoned for a witch, young children burned for disciplinary reasons, thick skulled individuals indulging in tribalistic insults all makes an individual gloomy, depressed and feeling as if trapped in some neverending Conradian nightmare. Nigerians want to rent the shirt and fly not held back, tethered to the grimy dirt by the anvil of backwardness. |

chuksjuve: My friend go and sleep joor. Am not a fan of nollywood but you can't help appreciate their huge economic impact in the continent. China started by copying western products but today they rule the world of manufacturing and has become the largest economy in the world (U.S is ridding on past glory). Whether fake or real accent let them grow until a generation that have the confidence of our own accent and complexion arises and takes over. Up on until early "90s, all our artists were American rapper wanna-bes, Michael Jackson imitators etc. Then, a generation arose that adapted rap music into local languages and style and completely shove American style aside. Our artists used to dream of performing on the stage where an American artist had performed as a status thing. Then they started performing on same stage together only when the U.S stars were invited and paid heavily to come to Nig. However, as of today, the American artists are the ones calling our artists for collabos to add value from the huge African market that Nigerian artists have taken over. Every journey begins with a step, the walk and run will follow as the confidence grows. Please, Let them be. 3 Likes |

neoOduduwa: From all the shiit you have been posting here i see you as somehow fustrated and forceful person, your fake western set accent hollywood immitating films sell in the cinemas and internet their sells in the market watched by a far more larger population than yours, your movies made it to that list cos they are unoriginal and your actors go for AMVCA and TAF to promote them, you see if am lagging in something i'll find a way to try and step ahead of people that are ahead rather than make decietful points with wiki page your brothers know this, truth can never be covered in this case. |

steppin:I swear make them give you your country. You go see. How did you contribute to the development sef, selling used clothes or Solar panels? Because me I no know o. You come to Lagos, do your business, make your money and stash it in the bank. Does the Lagos State government take money from your bank accounts? How much do you pay in tax, if you even pay tax at all. Mehn, I give up trying to explain to you. You've ruined Nigeria's name with all kinds of criminal activities, so it would be better we change that name. With time, Biafra would become recognised for you-know-what. 3 Likes |
