The Age of African Renaissance, Reason and science-The Nigerian version
Renaissance a Latin word, which means to be "reborn" has been used to refer to a period when Europe started taking scientific, philosophy, art and literature very important.During this period there was a gradual decline in superstitions and the crave for scientific explanations to things which a lay man will call the works of God or Devil, became explained by scientists and philosophers such as Benjamin Franklin famous experiment of the lightening rod,Louis Pasteur discovery of germs and other microbes which prove that devils weren't responsible for the various disease faced by mankind and so on and so forth.
Ages have since passed since the Europeans age of renaissance, and today they reap the rewards. In far away Africa people are beginning to reason, question and understand what they have always been told to accept without questions such as superstitious beliefs that little children are responsible for the sickness and diseases that plague their families. In this age every African who wants a better Africa should research all he has been taught and bring it to be crucified under reason. We are beginning to understand that whites where and are not superior to us.whatever they can achieve we can also achieve.
Few days ago a certain governor in Nigeria had said meningitis was caused by fornication, adultery and that people should become close to a certain Arabian god.I wasn't shocked by the outrage that greeted his comments even from his kinsmen such as the Emir of Kano, sanusi lamido. What most Elite Nigerians do not know is there is a revolution going on among the People, not fought in the name of gods, ethnic groups,or stupid religious ideologies neither is it fought with guns and bombs but rather with our pen and mind(the most powerful weapon known to mankind).
The time has come for our people to stop voting and supporting leaders who do not feel our pain, leaders who do not use our roads, leaders who don't know what it feels like to face strikes in our public secondary and tertiary institutions because their kids are schooling in a faraway European country. The time has come for our people to take full responsibility, for whoever they allow in the government house. It's time to know Nigerians are not ruled by foreigners or outsiders but rather Nigerians.
The time to embrace Reason and science is here and now.It is better to have 10 Louis Pasteur than 1000 fake pastors or imams who stand at the pulpit defending their own slavery, and preaching dead doctrines which are incompatible with the modern world and some with the aim of deceiving the gullible Nigerians.
There is no other time to be reborn other than now, there is no other time to reason other than now, there is no other time to embrace scientific truth other than now.
