*Topic:* FAITH ADDITIVES
*Read:* 2 PETER 1:3-10

*MEMORISE:* _But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge_ *(2 Peter 1:5)*

*EXPOSITION*
An additive is a substance added, in some quantity, to something else, especially food, to alter or improve it, give it colour, make it last longer, etc. Additives to faith imply that for it to be holistic, wholesome and functional, it has to go with some spiritual spices. This is to say that our faith only becomes effective when we add the following supplements to make our Christianity real:
☀ *Virtue:* This is general word for doing what is godly and moral, by all standards. We cannot say we believe in God, if we have no virtue *(Proverbs 31:1ff)*. Virtue makes your life attractive to Christ and others *(Matthew 5:16)*. The opposite is vice, which we must shun.
☀ *Knowledge:* This is the acquired learning that helps one's life to grow. Ignorance kills *(Hosea 4:6)*. Application of the Bible-based acquired knowledge is profitable.
☀ *Self-control:* This is also discipline. Your faith without the anchor that tends, prunes, moderates and guides your actions, reactions and inactions, is unhelpful for spiritual growth *(Galatians 5:23)*.
☀ *Steadfastness:* This is being stable, even in adverse situations. Your faith is solid in God, when you are steadfast *(1 Corinthians 16:13)*.
☀ *Godliness:* The only thing that makes one contented, against worldliness, is godliness-having God's mind in all things *(1 Timothy 6:11)*.
☀ *Brotherly affection:* This caps the entire faith supplements. It is the evidence of ones virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness and godliness *(Romans 12:10)*. Without it, one's Christianity isn't worth it. Receive the grace to be passionate about your growth, in Jesus name. Amen.

*PRAYER POINTS:*
*1.* Oh God, help me to appreciate the reality of faith additives, and consequently crave for your sufficient grace to acquire them.
*2.* Oh Lord, deliver people who are addicted to cocaine, cannabis, adultery, sports, socials and computer.
*3.* Father, help church leaders to always feed Your sheep with the undiluted Word, instead of human philosophies.
