TEETHING
Teething occurs when a baby's teeth first begin to push through the gums. Although the timing varies widely, most babies begin teething by about age 6 months . For those who like to know the age babies start teething, there are many factors that affect this. It could be hereditary or nutrition.
Some babies start teething at 6 months, some 3 months of age, some 10 months, 15 months, 7 months etc.The two central front teeth that appeared at the bottom from (lower central incisors) usually sprung up first before others.
After that, the two top central front teeth ( upper central incisors ).

Teething is highly welcomed by the parents of the baby and the babies usually exhibit new behavior and they're happy as well as they tend to smile more than before especially if it's their first baby.

Drooling, usually occur when the baby is about eight weeks before the first tooth sprung. the baby becomes cranky and grouchy as a result of her swollen gums which is usually characterized by pain and the sudden interest in chewing any solid material he could hold.

Many parents suspect that teething causes fever, pain in the ear, high temperature and diarrhea but researchers say this isn't true.
I've had some parents who claimed that baby teething is very stressful to the baby in that, the growth and shooting of the tooth from the gum requires alot of communications in the brain and this stress lead to the high body temperature usually experienced by the babies and the pain in the ear.

This is very funny and untrue. Diarrhea which is also perceived to be one of the signs and symptoms of teething by some parent is just misinterpretation of the fact. Teething usually excite babies and their point of gratification is also the mouth at this stage which made wanting to put almost everything they lay their hands upon in their mouth.
When the free range of babies are not controlled and if the environment is not sanitized, they are prone to take dirt into their mouths which result to diarrhea.

Teething may cause signs and symptoms in the mouth and gums, but it doesn't cause problems elsewhere in the body.

Making sure you watch your hands and fingers with disinfected water and soap cleaning your finger nails and then rub the baby's gum with clean finger so as not to introduce germs into their mouths, use moistened clean gauze pad to rub your baby's gums softly. I will like to enlight you more.
The genesis of teething being associated with sicknesses in African children was based on transfer of wrong belief and perception from one generation to another.
For instance, many grandmothers were of the concept that infants must fall sick during teething.
This is scientifically unproven, what really happened was that all babies depend on the maternal immunity during pregnancy, after birth dz immunity dependancy continue through breast milk,As the baby grows ,the level begins to decline ,and the baby is now exposed to environmental pathogens such as viruses,bacteria ,fungi ,At age 4 to 6 months plus,the infants begin to develop active immunity following the exposures, dz period coincides with eruptions of lower incisors which usually itches, and this increase frequency of hands to mouth activities, in addition to dz most of the kids are also active and resist backing ,carrying, and other form of restrictions, this further exposed them to picking and ingestion of contaminated and infected items ,such as food,shoes,toys,dirty hands...... Dz is the genesis of the fever and diarrhoea.
Coz most of the so called teething sicknesses are caused by viruses, they easily respond to paracetamol that is being marketed under different trade names.
Trust the guys at the pharmacy and the uninformed health care workers who are ready to make a diagnosis of teething as the culprit.
Dz was the reason a woman will administered 5 to 10 brands of paracetamol for her innocent child in the name of treating unexisting concept of teething.
Some will recommend a tried brand for the affected mother i.e gbomoro...m and b, pikan...bonababe....my pikin(chlorinated paracetamol) and so many over the counter brands that contain paracetamol and anti histamines that are contra indicated in children below 3 yesrs of age.
