BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Job tasks and responsibilities

What we need you to do

·       Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Association members, the wider business community and public sector partners.

·       Undertake activities, which enable the Association to gain a close understanding of membership and wider business issues and needs and translate these into relevant and appropriate actions and services.

·       Actively seek out new business development opportunities and business improvements and support the Council in developing the strategic direction of the Association.

·       Provide support to the Chief Executive by representing the Association at meetings and events which may be high profile.

·       Set a high standard of quality service delivery to members, the wider business community and public sectors partners.

·       Develop and implement the strategies for business and market development for the Association, ensuring identified opportunities result in the achievement of agreed growth and revenue targets

·       Identify key prospective clients for existing Association services through research, effective market segmentation and analysis.

·       Develop and maintain relevant networks and trusted relationships all stakeholders including key decision makers; identifying and promoting how new and existing Association products and services can solve their business needs.

·       Attending and hosting business focused events

·        Prepare accurate proposals and costings to secure new or retained business.

Requirements

·       University degree in economics, marketing, business administration or equivalent

·       At least 5 years relevant professional experience

·       Proven experience in negotiations and transactions with companies and donors

·       Good communication and networking skills

·       Pro-active, professional working attitude; able to think “out-of-the-box”

·       A member centric can do attitude is a real competitive edge. 

·       We are always looking for ways to work smarter, not harder, identifying process improvements and then using them, needs to be a strength.

·       As businesses are now cloud based you need to be proficient with technology; databases, social media, websites, Mail Chimp, Xero, SharePoint & MS Office

·       Self-motivating, reliable, able to meet tight deadlines and to work in an international team of highly motivated professionals.

Key Accountabilities

·        Build up new membership subscriptions

·        Maintain existing membership subscriptions

·        Maintain a dynamic portfolio of products, services and events which meet the needs of members

·        Set up and delivery of new programmes

·        Ensuring that the reputation of the Association as a high quality membership organisation and the voice of private sector business is maintained

·        Effective use of resources
