It is with a heavy heart dat we mourn d lost of a legendary scholar, a role model, a father, an educationist, a humanitarian and an introspective genius; Prof. Bashir Ikara FNIIA, OOA, FNIM, who died last week on the 31st of Dec 2009 after a protracted illness; was, until his death the Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, representing Kaduna State.
During his life time, he served in various capacities at the Bayero University, Kano and later at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. After his retirement from University service, he worked in various capacities at the federal and state level. He was a recipient of several national and international awards including ABI's Man Of The Year 2003, The Albert Einstein Genius Award and lots more. His name apeared in several national and international journals and books of honours such as; Greatest Minds of the 21 century, Who is who in Africa, 500 Geniuses of the 21 century, Who is who in Nigeria, and others too numerous to mention.
Prof. ikara left behind many legacies too ample to mention. He preached kindness, religiousness, time-cautiousness, pursiut of knowledge and utter sincerity.
He is survived by his parents, two wives, ten children and numerous grand-children.

May his soul rest in peace nd may his legacies and visions for Nigeria remain forever in our hearts.

don't know him , never heard of him but for those achievements he left behind , i throway salute. R.I.P.
