HOW TO REMODEL YOUR KITCHEN ON A BUDGET.

Would you love to be able to get the kitchen remodel you want just within budget?
These tips have been used successfully by those who wished to manage the amount they had for remodeling.
I am going to show you 7 remodeling tips that would help you save on your next kitchen remodel.

SET A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT.
Take a look at your finances to determine just how much you can spare. Armed with this, you’d have the knowledge of how your total cost will be broken down. According to love home design, “here is how it breaks down, on average;
35%: cabinets.
20%: labor.
20%: appliances.
10%: windows.
5%: fixtures.
3%: fitting.
7%: others’’.
You can see how crucial setting a budget is now, so you wouldn’t spend more on frivolities. So, you can take the whole money you set aside and break it down into the various categories.

MAKE A SCALE OF PREFERENCE.
Since human wants and desires are endless, a scale of preference is the perfect tool for ranking your wants in order of priorities. What are the indispensable appliances that are a must-have in your kitchen? New lighting features, counter tops, cabinets, flooring? Arrange them in a way that the most important is achieved before moving up on the list. This would go a long way in helping you. If you run into some unexpected expenses, that way, you’d have the satisfaction of having fulfilled the most pressing needs.

USE D.I.Y TO LOWER YOUR COSTS.
You don’t have to always hire people to do all the works. Pitch in to do things. No matter how little, it will definitely help to reduce your total cost. You hired a carpenter, plumber, electrical guy, and still want to hire someone to haul your refrigerator, the old cabinet, microwave, and flooring?
You could even do the removal yourself. Let me give you a tip if you can’t do the removal and don’t want to pay someone to do it. Take pictures of whatever you want to remove and put it on craigslist saying “free if you take them down and take them away’’. This way, you achieve two things;
1. You save money.
2. You make someone happy.

KEEP OLD APPLIANCES.
You don’t have to throw out all your old appliances. Those that are still in good conditions can still be salvaged. You could keep the old cabinets, fridge and other useful appliances that came with the house. You could even throw a garage sale and dispose of those appliances that wouldn’t suit your new kitchen taste. While those you decide to keep can be touched-up. This would be broached in my next tip.

PAINT! PAINT! PAINT!
According to Ivan Meade of Meade design group, “painting is the most inexpensive way to clean and bring a place up to date’’. Painting the wall gets a chunk off your renovation costs. You could search for a great antique store, get some artwork and hang them on your freshly painted wall. See how this would brighten up your kitchen and it sure wouldn’t cost you much. You could make use of white paint, it has been known to make a space bigger and brighter.
Also, your kitchen cabinets and counter-tops can be resurfaced. Designer Justin Riordan says,” White paint does wonders for outdated cabinets and can save you money’’. Semi-gloss high-quality paints that don’t retain moisture and are cleanable should do the job.

CONDUCT RESEARCH PROPERLY BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING.
“In order to remodel your kitchen on a budget, do your research online for each component before purchasing. The additional research time will be well worth the saving”, says kitchen cabinet kings. So, shop around and look for better prices both online and in local shops.
You could also get custom made cabinets or even used materials (on craiglist). “It is used obviously, but it is very high quality”, says Cathie plies design program coordinator for the art institute of Fort Lauderdale.

CONCLUSION.
To get the kitchen you want within your budget, what you need to do are; stick to your budget, use D.I.Y, rank your needs, retouch your appliances through painting and keep old appliances.
I know friends who have used this tips effectively in remodeling their kitchen just within budget.
So, what other methods do you have for remodeling a kitchen on a budget?
