Corpers In President Buhari's Hometown Daura Lament As Thieves Go On Rampage by Frankdotcom: 8:19am On Apr 29, 2017
Corps members serving in Daura, Katsina state, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari are currently living in perpetual fear over the influx of thefts which has continued unabated for months.

Barely a month after thieves invaded the corpers lodge at the Government Day Secondary school Daura catering away phones, laptops etc, the dare devils struck again on Wednesday catering away gadgets in the same lodge.

Recalling the past incident, the lodge president stated that the corps members woke at exactly 3:48am to discover to their chagrin that their phones, laptops, power banks and other accessories were missing.

When one of the corps members raised alarm over his missing gadgets, others rose to discover theirs missing as well. This induced panic as they all set out that night in a bid to unravel the sudden disappearance of their gadgets.

They quickly ran to complain to the security man attached to the school but to their consternation, he feigned ignorance over seeing anyone within the school and hurriedly went back to sleep.

However, they noticed cracks and holes at some points in the school wall where the perpetrators could have sneaked in and out.

According to some of the lodge mates, it's believed the thieves could have used some form of charm as it was baffling on how they could have robbed 5 rooms without being caught. They entered the lodge through the window protector which they tamper with to allow penetration. The perpetrators even had the luxury of time to detach the sim cards from the phones they stole and left it at the entrance of the lodge.

The list of items stolen include phones, laptops, charges, power banks, all worth over eight hundred thousand naira (N800,000).

The case was reported to the Daura divisional police command. The DSP promised to fish out the perpetrators of the act while promising enhanced security for the corps members.

The corps members later took the case to the Emir's palace. The Emir, HRH Umar Faruk Umar promised to give the corps members half of the amount towards the end of March. When the corps members went back on Monday, the palace official handling the matter, told the Corpers that they were facing financial challenges and as such they should wait till the end of the month April.
The corpers went back on Monday and were disappointed with discordant tales from the palace officials.

This infuriated the corps members as some of them are due to pass out next week.

A corps member, who pleaded anonymity disclosed that this case of mid night thefts has become a recurring decimal for quite some time now. "These thieves move around in the dead of the night with their charms. Once they apply their charms, they whole people in the particular environment sleeps off like dead bodies to allow them perpetuate their evil act", He said.

Also, two staff in the nearby school, Government Girls Secondary school Daura have become victims too as their properties which include plasma television, phones were carted away in like manner.

Corps members have called on the security agencies and stake holders to make the matter of their security a priority. They further appealed to the Emir to fulfil his promise to the corps members who earn peanuts in the course of their service. Victor Esowe a corps member said, " We can't suffer to get these gadgets to make life easy in the course of our service to our fatherland only for the people of the community to treat us with contempt."

we all should be security conscious. security and safety should not be left for security personnel only.
I still don't understand how people fall asleep as early as 9pm and wake up the next morning.
such scenerio where thieves take you unaware and disposes you of your valuables because you are in a deep sleep can never happen to me. I hardly sleep at night not to talk of sleep all through without opening my eyes for like ten times before morning. who born the maga when want try nonsense. even yesterday night self na movies I watch till day break. that is why they never stole from me when i attends night class in uniben those days.

Why is there still NYSC?

Another useless remnant from the military era.

Just like environmental sanitation curfew was fought and won, so also will we win the fight against such a time wasting, soul sucking, good for nothing scheme.

Spits.
