*CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL...*
*Date:* SATURDAY, APRIL 29, 2017

*Topic:* WHAT COULD BE WORSE?
*Read:* JOHN 5:1-14

*MEMORISE:* _Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you."_ *(John 5:14)*

*EXPOSITION*
Some people who claim they have problems, don't, if they compare theirs with others’. There are different kinds of problems/challenges. The Bible is replete with various people bedevilled with one terrible situation or the other. Among these are, the woman with 12-year issue of blood, the full-grown man born blind *(John 9:1ff)*, the ten lepers, and the lame man at the Beautiful Gate *(Acts 3:1ff)*. These ones later encountered the Great Physician.

In *John 5:1-14*, we see a man who had been bedridden for 38 years! He was in this terrible condition until the kind-hearted Jesus visited him, not considering his sheer unpreparedness. While still basking in the euphoria of his restoration, Jesus sternly warned him never to return to sinful past, lest worse conditions visit him! Imagine how Jesus followed him up. It could have been a case of one being healed without the knowledge of the Healer *(vv. 12-14)*.

Don't you wonder if any condition could be worse than such a long time bedridden affliction? Would blindness, lameness, deafness or dumbness suffice as worse conditions than this age-long sickness? Jesus was warning him against continuing in sin, so as not to land in hell, which is truly and ultimately worst condition. You must avoid hell by shunning sin in all its entirety and manifestations . Today, Jesus pleads: _come home; shun sin_ *(CACGHB 199)*.

*PRAYER POINTS:*
*1.* Oh Lord, I refuse to end up in hell. Help me to live my life for You.
*2.* Oh Lord, take away reproach from my life.
*3.* Pray for brethren that are battling with life-threatening ailments, that God should heal them now.

*EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:* 1 Corinthians 12 - 13
