The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has said his administration is committed to ensuring food security in the state.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Udo, said this was why the governor recently inaugurated the Improved Cassava Stem Plantation in Okobo Local Government Area of the state.
The venture was established by FEYReP, the pet project of the governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel, the statement added.

At the event, Mr. Emmanuel said he was glad to be part of the project as agriculture was the “quickest and highest employer of labour,” saying that a lot of industries would thrive where there were raw materials.
