The Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. John Kayode Fayemi (Hon Minister) holds a 3-day Media Immersion Workshop on the road to sharing mining prosperity... titled EMPHASISING EXCELLENCE IN MINING REPORTING.
The Workshop which is holding in Lokoja in Kogi state, commenced on the 3rd of May 2017 and is expected to end on the 5th of may 2017.
The participants which cuts across media houses (Print, electronic, online/social media platforms) are well armed with him workshop literature such as books like " Roadmap for the GROWTH and DEPARTMENTS of the Nigerian mining industry", "Nigeria'Mining and Metal Sector investment, promotion and brochure " and "Guideline on the mineral Titles Applications" with several materials from the facilitators to make the workshop a great one and the participants well informed about the progress of the ministry so far and how they could also contribute to its progress thorough their profession (sensitization and reporting mining activities without bias).
The Programme is designed to reflect activities that need to be addressed when advancing a robust coverage/report of the Nigerian mining sector. The topics have been carefully chosen to give rudimentary knowledge of the sector and cover a range of history, regulations and reforms.

*Understanding the role of THE MEDIA in Mining sector this was extensively discussed by Mr Olu JACOBS
*Mining Overview:Roadmap for the growth and development of mining sector in Nigeria thorough overview was discussed.
*Environmental Protection and community Engagements: Environmental Approvals, Compliance, Prosecutions, Cooperate Social responsibility, Social License to Operate, Issues of Consent by Ms. Abi BAIYEWU-TERU, Executive Director, Global right.
* Mining News Sourcing : Writing Award winning/Impactful stories by Ms. Toyosi OGUNSEYE, Sunday Editor, The punch
* And Issues relating to Mining and reporting by Mr. Olayinka OYEBODE.
During the Workshop, there will be Facility Tour to NIOMCO at Itakpe and Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited to see the level of work done by the ministry.
Kogi state Government was also well represented.
