The Owa’Tapa of Itapa Ijesa Land, Dr Olapade Agoro has called on President Muhamadu Buhari to fight the menace called corruption to a standstill by striping corrupt monarchs of their titles. He made this call in a letter addressed to the President Muhammadu Buhari dated 11th April, 2017.

The Owa’Tapa in his allegations pointed out that Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye was engaged in drugs dealing business. He claimed that the Ooni of Ife is one the drug baron that is hiding under the cloak of All Progressive Congress to perpetrate and perpetuate their evil deeds.

He therefore demands a dispassionate investigation of the monarch in question and others involved in drug dealings. The vocal traditional ruler substantiated his claim by putting the worth of the Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi around $600Million without any other verifiable means of earning such huge amount except drugs. He called on the authority to take a cursory but intense gaze at the declared taxable income of Ooni Ogunwusi and compare it with his real worth. He concluded that the intelligence linking the highly revered Yoruba Oba must be duly investigated and if found culpable must be brought to book according to the law of the land as no one is above the law.

However, an unverified claims on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2017 indicates that this prominent Nigeria traditional leader is one of the eleven influential personalities that are on the watch list of  NDLEA for high profile drug deals.

Dr. Agoro is believed in some quarters to be principled, truthful and unrepentant in the defense of what he stands for and therefore might be standing by all his claims as he fights the battle to a conclusive end. While another opinion is that Dr. Agoro is too critical of the Aregbesola APC faction in Osun State, hence extending it to the Ooni who is believed to have been installed by the APC government in Osun state for political gains.

He challenged that the high ranking  traditional ruler should come out in public and tell the whole world what business he has been doing before and how much he has remitted to the authority as tax from his income. He encouraged the Ooni of Ife to come out to the public and wash himself clean of drug dealing's allegation instead of running from pillar to post to attract the power of presidency to  suppress NDLEA from making public their findings that enlisted some top Yoruba leaders and Traditional rulers in the North of drug peddling.

All efforts to get Ooni Enitan Adeyeye to comment on the allegation and the ongoing investigation remain futile.
