Prophecy generally refers to a prediction which is supposed to be a vision from God to guide his people. It is always direct and easy to understand. Though Jesus talked in parables, prophecies in the Bible were straight to the point. A good example was the prediction of Jesus’ birth in Isaiah 7:14, hundreds of years before he was born. The prophecy of his birth was straight and it came to pass.
There are some predictions these days that bring ridicule to real prophecies. How to distinguish true prophecy was stated in 2 Peter 1:21: For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Prophets are expected to function as preachers, predictors and watchmen, but many prophets are only functioning as predictors. One prophet whose activities have been raising series of questions because of his prophecies and their predictability is Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, the founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. He’s one prophet that talks yearly about his predictions for the country. He releases a book on yearly basis called the Book of Prophecy.
Over the years, there have been many questions raised about the authenticity of his predictions and the source. Many have argued that his predictions are too ordinary to come from God and that there is nothing divine about them. Below are some of his predictions for 2017 and the way people believe they were conceived...
