F.C. Barcelona ensured that the LaLiga title chase remained a tight rope walk as they kept pressure on Real Madrid by demolishing Villareal F.C. by four goals to one with the famous “MSN” as the “main culprits” as usual in such decisive games.

In a game played in front of their usual vociferous fans at the Nou Camp, the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar Jnr. combined to ensure that the visiting team went home empty-handed to the delight of their teeming supporters.

Neymar Jnr. was the first off the block with the first goal in the 21st minute to calm the nerves of their fans in the Camp Nou. Thereafter came an early shocker as a certain Cedric Bakambu restored parity when he scored against the run of play in the 32nd minute.

And just as everyone was waiting for the referee’s half-time whistle, a certain Lionel Messi popped up to restore the home team’s lead by scoring the second goal for Barcelona.

On resumption of the second half, the home team kept searching for what is popularlyknown as the “insurance goal” by making real dangerous forays into their opponents’ half on a regular basis. This eventually paid off as the third member of the “MSN” – Luis Suarez went on to add his name to the score sheet by duly scoring the much needed “insurance goal” in the 69th minute of the game.

And if anyone thought that the Barcelona “Three Musketeers” were done for the evening, they were proved wrong as the unmistable leader of the gang – Lionel Messi popped up again to add the fourth goal for his team and second for himself in the 82nd minuted through a penalty kick.

The “Three Musketeers” have now combined to score 101 goals for their team this season with the “Chaiman” – Lionel Messi accounting for 51 of those goals. It is also worth mentioning that Lionel Messi is the first player from the Top 5 European Leagues to reach 50 goals this season in all competitions.
