My take on this matter is that the America senate percive Mutallab snr as a good man and definately not a terrorist hence the invitation. If he were to be seen as a terrorist or from a core terrorist region, they wouldn't have bothered.

I think this is the only chance he has to plea for mercy for his son and he should cash on it and honour the invitation.

Inviting him when a court case is going on seems rather strange and odd. If more information is needed from him, there are CIA etc agents in Nigeria. Can they not ask him the questions and pass on to the Senate ? Also SSS interviewed him, I would imagine there should be an intelligence exchange protocol between those agencies. Something is not quite right ? There are so many unanswered questions about the case. There is still no information about :

1. How he left Yemen with an expired visa and he was not questioned, normally he should have been questioned.
2. How he spent his time in Ghana. Ghana claimed he arrived on the 9th of Dec. He left Yemen on the 7th of December? Two days gap?
3. He left Ghana on the 24th and arrived Lagos as claimed by Nigeria, that is almost two weeks, these are critical to the investigation.
4. Details of his fathers reporting to both Nigeria and US Agencies and what information or intelligence triggered his reporting to such agencies.
5. Details of the conversation he last had with his Son etc
6. Most of the airports he went through have CCTV. Its only Nigeria MMA that is willing to share information with others

There are loads of unanswered questions.

I am wondering if this should be happening after the Judgement of his son ?

He might have some vital information. The information could be extracted from him without leaving Nigeria.
Also why summon or invite him on the same day his son pleaded not guilty ?

US senate do invite people from other countries my only concern is the timing of this. Its a bit odd

There is one funny aspect of all this that i just noticed . . .

1. someone just told me today that CIA Headquarters is in Ghana.

2. Was he in Ghana for the two weeks mentioned above.

3. Are you trying to tell that despite that CIA Headquarters is in Ghana yet somehow the CIA did not know about him considering that there was a 2 weeks gap before he even reached Lagos. . . .

Please give me a break . . . this is really starting to smell like some people in US were involved in what Farouk did . . . cus I simply refuse to believe the CIA Headquarted in Ghana did not know about him . . .

Moreover . . . why did he go to Ghana, since he is not a Ghanian . . .

When THISDAY contacted Presidency about the letter, Presidential Spokesman Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi who was on official duty in Angola where he is on a mission as a member of the Presidential Committee on Super Eagles participation in 2010 World Cup confirmed that the government was aware of the invitation and the Foreign Ministry is expected to formally convey it to Alhaji Mutallab at meeting soon.

If US has a strong base in Ghana then the whole scenario is beginning to make sense. There are some other concerning issues around the case and would possibly need some further answers.

1. A lawyer called Kurt Haskell ( please Google ) who claimed he was on the same flight with Abdul Mutallab from Amsterdam. He claimed he witnessed that a well dressed man attempted to help the bomber onto the plane. He overheard the well dressed man making up stories that he is from Sudan and does not have a passport. Kurt claimed that the well dressed man looked of Indian origin and around 50 years old. The staff at the the flight check-in point refused but referred both the well dress man and the bomber to Manager. They both left. Kurt claimed that when the bomb saga happened on the flight he recognised Abdul Mutallab as the person who was brought to the boarding gate with this well dressed Indian gentleman. His concern was if this well dressed man was an agent. He is asking for the CCTV of the boarding lounge at Amsterdam to be released, but I am not sure if this has happened

2. This same Lawyer Kurt and his Partner Lori claimed that everyone on the flight were interviewed at the baggage area. At some point, the security agent came with some Sniffer dogs and was on an Indian man who was on the flight. The man was whisked away and arrested according to Kurt Haskell. Kurt is of the Opinion that he was arrested because there was probably bomb material in his bag. Thus according to this witness two people were arrested from the Flight Abdul Muttalab and someone else. The report I read claimed initially US authorities denied the second arrest but later claimed it.

3. Another female passenger on the flight noticed that someone in the flight was recording around abdul mutalab.

I think there are some questions that needs answered to confirm what went on before, during and after the plane landed

It is almost tempting to suggest an international investigation into the issue, which is independent of US and Nigeria to get to the bottom of what happened and put peoples mind at rest.
The bottom line is as a nation we condemn terrorism in all its form but there is a need for a wider investigation on a global scale to establish some dark aspect of this case.

if the man likes himself he better not go anywhere!! if the americans have any questions they should send it in a letter!! if they wan face to face let them come down to mnigeria. If he goes to america he himself will be implicated and arrested, if they dont get him for terrorism they take him down for money launderin or fraud. He better stay where he is, he has done his part,
