The man is our Acting President not the Coordinator. The mistake people are making is that they hold the believe that it is the President that appoints the Vice President as the Acting President. No. Appointment? of VP as the Acting President is by operation of law and not by the act of the President. [See section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).] The VP assumes the position of Acting President the moment the President transmits a letter to the National Assembly saying that he will be out of the country. That change of status is by law and not by the act of the President or the contents of the letter. Those who are reading the letter to mean Coordinator are deliberately misinterpreting the letter for their selfish aims. Moreso, the letter only says the VP should coordinate the affairs of the nation. There is nothing stating that the man should act as Coordinator.

Buhari's letter already cited Section 145(1) as the basis of his handing over to Osinbajo, albeit in an acting capacity. So, it's really much ado about nothing.

It is not the title that Buhari gives Osinbajo (even if we interpret it that way), that matters..... it is the Power the CONSTITUTION confers on him that counts.

Since the President has INVOKED THE CONSTITUTION, in his letter, that is all that matters.
That is what makes Osinbajo the "Acting President" of Nigeria.
Mind you, Buhari still remains the Substantive President of Nigeria, until removed or resigns.

I believe the above statement is absolutely correct and does not in any way undermine the ACTING capacity of the Vice President in the circumstance under focus. Every chief executive (substantive or acting) is a coordinator within his/her jurisdiction. Note that the statement did not vitiate jurisdiction of coordination as the scope of the Vice President's coordination remains national. Besides, the VP has been elevated to the Acting President capacity with reference to the enabling section of the constitution. So why the fuss of 'Coordinating Acting President' trending on social media?
