The vice-chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, has tasked intellectuals and the academia to harness research findings as problem solving tools for the progress of the human society.
Adamu gave this charge in his welcome address at the opening of the 3rd International Conference on Social Sciences and Law this Wednesday at Nile University of Nigeria (NUN), Jabi, Abuja.

The vice-chancellor, who has double professorship in Science Education and Cultural Communication, posited that the true essence of scientific research is for societal progress. “It is my ardent hope that this conference will explore not just the soul of interdisciplinarity, but the essence of knowledge transfer of scientific findings to inform the society and create an equitable knowledge-driven polity that progresses based on awareness, tolerance, appreciation and understanding of each other,” he said.

Adamu opined that scientific research would achieve its designed purpose if it’s findings are employed by policy makers for policy formulation to better the lot of the society.
