Why Did God So Love The World And He Is Preventing Us From Loving It Too? by mickool(m): 6:41am On May 14, 2017
A 7 years old boy asked his Sunday school teacher, 1st John 2:15-16 says "do not love the world" but John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world".
So, why did God love the world and He is preventing us from loving it too??
If you were the teacher, what will be your answer??
Every believer's contributions is required please!!

Context is the key here man.

When He says "for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son", this clearly shows that "the world" in this context doesn't mean the materials in it but the men.
Check these

Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are savedwink

Notice "US" (human beings).

Romans 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Again, did you note it? US, Sinners, human beings.

As for 1John 2:15-16, read CONTEXTUALLY.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 2:16 For all THAT IS IN THE WORLD, the LUST of THE FLESH , and the LUST of THE EYES, and the PRIDE OF LIFE, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Clearly, this context is talking about material possessions or fleshy gains.

So when it says "God so loved the world", the world God loves is the people of the world. But the 1John context refers to material things.

The Bible is clear.

LOL. Lazy conclusion. Have you read all through the Bible? How many Bible study meetings have you attended? How many "quiet times" have you had? Why encourage yourself in ignorance?
The Scriptures are clear for those who are learned in it. The key is to study!

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth.

Don't be confused.

To support the "context" argument... the word "so", as in "so loved the world" means in this manner or in such a manner... that is, He gave His ONLY begotten Son to be the propitiation/atonement for the sins of many in the world.

@op,

MY ANSWER: God is like a petty, and jealous little hypocrite who says stuff like, "I love Kim Kardashian's buttocks, but don't you dare let me see you staring at her buttocks"!!!
