In Germany, a A B.Sc. degree is the first stage of qualifying as a professional engineer. Plus preparing you for a professional life, the combination of courses will cover the basic scientific principles of engineering, thereby getting you ready for a Master's degree and doctorate, or for a career with a strong academic or technical emphasis.

In the first year of study, you will receive a broad grounding in the principles of engineering and the natural sciences. This will include sessions on mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, computer science and the natural sciences. These sessions are designed to impart knowledge and practical techniques in the areas of engineering and natural sciences, and to teach the thought processes that lie behind them. Details of individual lectures can be found in the module handbook. After completion of the first year, which is largely taught to all students across the course, students are divided into separate disciplines and tailored content is taught to the different groups.

Duration of Program

The curriculum of ISE is designed as a consecutive bachelor master program with duration for the:

Bachelor program: 3 years, 6 semesters
Master program: 2 years, 4 semesters
Industrial Internship

An industrial internship in an established company is compulsory for all Bachelor-Students. The University will work with you in navigating this process. The whole 15 weeks of industrial internship have to be finished before starting the final thesis.

In the master degree courses an industrial internship is optional.
