There was a time when watching Arsenal was the hottest ticket in town. Not any more. Stood in his technical area before kick-off, Arsene Wenger would have surveyed the landscape before him and thought: 'how has it come to this?'. Disgruntled Arsenal fans voted with their feet. Two supporter groups followed through with their threat to boycott Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Sunderland in protest against the club's alarming plight under Wenger. Thousands of empty seats were visible as Arsenal and Sunderland players shook hands The club announced that the total number of 'tickets sold' for the game was 59,510 Just before kick-off there looked to be around 40,000 in the stadium. Ten minutes into the game around 5,000 more took their seats - still not a good look in a stadium that has a capacity of over 60,000. The Gunners later said that there were 59,510 'tickets sold' for the match.
