Nigeria is free from the WannaCry ransomeware that has been plaguing the computers of corporate institutions worldwide. The news was released by The National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA).


So far, about 200,000 computers have been affected by the virus in about 150 countries.

The WannaCry Ransomware is considered one of the biggest cyber security breach in recent time.

Wannacry operates by encrypting documents stored in the victims Windows computer. After that a ransom will be demanded to be paid in Bitcoins before the victim regains his/her documents.

To be on the safe side, avoid free downloads from the internet, and opening documents or applications on the internet with unverified source.
