If your Primera is the P11-144 series which was mated with a CVT, you need Nissan NS1 Fluid.

Can you share VIN for confirmation?

If it looks like the 2003 to 2005 model, Type T-IV

If it has the upgraded looks of the 2007 to 2011 model, Toyota WS.

Oando dex two or 3 will work.if u insist on using type t iv just know that the probability to see original is like 5%. Most liquids inside type tiv is not from toyota. Igbos have spoilt everything unless u want to waste money.

You need 5W-20. I don't think Hardex has this oil weight.

I use hardex 5W-30 for my engine

I want to know which one is best for my transmission

Someone advised I use hardex ATF, he said it's WS too

That the Toyota WS has China and Japan.....the Japan is the original one, but the hardex will serve just like the Toyota WS (Japan)

I recommend Liqui Moly ATF Top Tec 1800.

If you must buy Hardex ATF, make sure it is similar to the attached picture.

ATF MV-VI

I know someone with a V8 Toyota who has been using oils with the manufacturer's recommended 5W/20 or 0W/20 viscosity for years, here in Naija. Absolutely no problems. No oil burn, no shearing, nothing.

Some car models accept a wide range of viscosities. If that's the case for that poster then fine. But if not, then its best to stick with what the manufacturer says.

If you've been using 0W/20 then stick to it.

The temperature thing is far more relevant at start up in cold climates where external ambient temperatures go very low, much lower than the temperature in the crankcase. In our own environment (or any environment for that matter!), temperatures in your engine easily exceed 100 degrees celcius. At that point the engine doesn't care about your external temperatures of a mere 33 degrees celcius (which is what people are saying is 'harsh'. If 33 degrees is harsh, what will they say about 100+ degrees? undecided)

I appreciate your contribution.

However, I switched to the 5w-30 just two days ago, as earlier advised. But with this your explanation, I'll consider reverting back to the recommended Ow-20 at the next oil change.

Thank you.

As long as 0w/20 or 5w/20 was being used in the car before then you shouldn't have any problems going back to it. Most problems start when a different viscosity (usually an incorrect one) was being used in the vehicle for a long period, the engine has sludge issues etc. and then the owner suddenly switches the oil viscosity. If this is your situation then things will probably not end well.

I assume the engine isn't consuming oil? My reason for asking is that some experienced car owners may recommend switching to a 'heavier' wieght or higher viscosity oil when an engine is old and consuming oil. Other than that, take my advice given about sticking to manufacturer specified viscosity.

Yeah, I've been using Ow-20 since I got the vehicle & never had any issues. The engine runs fine & never shorts oil.

However, I also never wanted ignoring the advise I got from people, reason why I came online to seek clarification.

Going forward, I'll stick with the recommended Ow-20.

Thank you once again for your kind depositions & guidance.

Hello aieromon,
I use a Toyota Camry 2004. And I have not changed my gear for 4years now..

The oil is dark now and smells burnt ..

Can us use the Hardex ATF to change the oil??

The gear is not giving me any issues, but I spoke to one mechanic about changing the oil, he said I do not need to change it hence it's not leaking or giving me issues .

Best to drain and refill if the funds are available.

Purchase Hardex T-IV from a reputable outlet.
