The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), has lifted the suspension of its speaker, Rt Hon. Monday Igbuya, and Hon. Tim Owhefere, the Majority leader of the house.


The recalled speaker was impeached over alleged misappropriation of funds on 11 May and was immediately replaced with Sheriff Oborevwori, representing Okpe constituency.


The motion for his impeachment was raised by a member representing isoko south, Hon. Johnson Erijo and seconded by a memrepresenting Warri South-West.







The impeachment was signed by 22 members out of the 29 House members of the state legislative assembly.


A source alleged that the reason for Igbuya’s impeachment was because he was planning to run for 2023 governorship election, a report he denied.


“I did not say I will be governor in 2023. I don’t have the finance. Treat the rumor as baseless and false,” Sunday said.



Hon. Igbuya will however resume his position as member representing Sapele constituency and Hon. Sheriff remains the speaker of the house.
