Manchester United prepare for a possible 3 points snatch as they host Burnley at Old Trafford. After failing to capitalize the opportunity to go top of the table last weekend due to Chelsea's postponed match, the Red Devils need to get all 3 points to remain in 2nd place. Defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are expected to rejoin the squad for this match, as well as midfielder Nani, striker Macheda, and goalie Ben Foster. All had previously been out injured. Striker Berbatov is out of this one with a knee injury, so Sir Alex will rely on the services of Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen up front. Darren Fletcher is also out, as he serves a one-match ban for his red card during the match against Birmingham. Picking the right midfield will be Ferguson's major headache this time, as well as deciding just how match fit his returning defenders are. Things need to be kept tight at the back as Burnley could spring unpleasant surprises. Burnley are coming of a 1-2 victory over MK Dons in their FA Cup 3rd round match. Burnley led 2-0 until the last minute when Dons pulled one back and provided everyone with a gripping Finale. Defender Steven Caldwell and midfielder Chris McCann will not feature in this clash at Old Trafford. Northern Ireland Forward Martin Paterson could have a say in this match, providing he is deemed fit and recovered from his cartilage knee injury. Match will be on Dstv; SS4. |
