I'm asking because of the terrible effects in Nigerian movies and TV series. So far only few movies in Nigeria have tried but still not up to world level. VFX is the singular reason why most Hollywood movies are blockbuster hits. Go on Google and search for VFX and the first result is an Indian movie with superb special effects. I believe with better effects, nollywood movies can compete with movies like John wick, fast 8 and others. What do y'all think

The question as @ dis moment is not whether we have vfx. The question is can nollywood afford vfx.

There are. The question is, can they pay? Do the producers even care to use the ones available? Do the viewer even care if it's properly produced?

The producers don't see need for it cuase they will still sell their films no matter what cos the level of viewers they've got don't watch out for VFX, they just enjoy the drama and plot of the story

Another thing is that the viewers don't know and believe dat something like vfx is here in naija, so wat u don't know don't bother u. but wen it's featured in one or two movies dat happen to b Nigerian, then a standard would have been set which most likely would force other movies to follow suit.
And on a second thought, somebody is rolling out N5m as cost of production for a movie and in some instances, maybe much less. Abeg, where him wan comot money from dat 5M pay for vfx? Vfx is not video editing and even video editing dey chew cash. ofcourse it depends on d editor as u can't compare a pako-shopped guy to say maybe Clarence Peters. Bros, on dat level, half d cash don go, not to talk of vfx.

chroma Keying and green screen removal........That is not VFX really.

If u really want to go into it. Forget video editing and start copying stuff like that done in the avengers or Guardians of the galaxy.

the producers are wilin to pay money but truth be told,, no vfx techie is in Nigeria. Even Eri Emusu is merely an Animator and nothing more.

Chroma key and green screen is greatly part of vfx.
Secondly we have guyz who can do vfx they only need to step up from using only after effect and more orientation o production level. Lastly Hollywood are using high technology matching for there movies which we yet to afford. Starting from vfx studio. /production house etc.but still I know we capable we just limited to certain vfx shot

hmmmm...

well, all of ya should just up una games and stop crying about softwares been expensive. There are torrents of these softwares

and like someone said... Any serious vfx techie should veer off Aftereffects. That thing x just a waste of interest and time.

We should strive to up the standards and not forever complain about phcn, cost of software, or that Hollywood is intellectually superior.

And A Mentor told me that the best way to get the interest of a producer is to arrange to do a vfx shot for him/her free. He said (hes the the co-founder of The Mill vfx house) that he and his co-artistes started out by offering their services free to top notch/upcoming producers. They put in their very best and the films got the bucks. With the success of the films, these producers came back asking for more and that was when they Cut (the Producers) Neck with Prize.
In these scenerio, the producers got no other option than to pay the money because they knew that these guys were good.

And we keep complaing about PHCN as a hindrance. Why? I dont seeit as enough reason to deter one. I paid a visit to Bangalore in the not too distant past and there were power cuts and Bangalore is an important hub of most IT and CGI outsourcing houses in India. Did they cringe and bemoan their own PHCN failures....I dont think so. They all possess Standby good old Gens.

Digikore Studios (an Idian VFX house) also had a similar growth pattern like The Mill House. They first started out as 5-6 members, approached some producers, did jobs free and perfectly for these producers and now Hollywood is even contracting them

And one thing that is working for these Indians is there super ability to collaborate on a project. There are no Tin Gods in theeir midst unlike here where someone would learn how to model a cup r move sometin along the x axis and immediately considers himself an intergalactic CG god.

We should all F.ucking Man-up and start working

It would get better when our efforts are seen even while complaining. Me I go yarn o... Anyhow e wan be, i go yarn...
It would also get better when better producers and directors boldly come out, take a step forward and displace those ancient men wey dey produce rubbish with garbage stories... Or when the archaic men develop some balls to watch a fvcking Hollywood movie, aspire to do same or better and actually pay to achieve a good goddamn movie
Una no wan get Naija super hero ne?

on point, working as a team and bringing ideas together is the key. One problem with we Nigerians is that we lack team work and the reason is because we like personal glory and we are somehow selfish in our attitude.
Re: Are There No VFX Specialist In Nigeria? by bosperky: 11:10am On Sep 03, 2021
Pls bro let not compare bangalore to nigeria we no way close india and nigeria is not even close , VFX can be done here but do we have what it takes to do it ?
You said power in bangalore its not like its everyday thing so its fine ..pls to do a good vfx it will cost you. to calculate things VFx studios in india has, light, cloud render plan, high tech system and then the funding etc.secondly VFX isnt one man job its team thing and its not advisable to use crack software for a vfx job bcus when it crashes you loose too many things and you could be arrested too.. Lastly most of our nolly wood people can't wait just 6months for vfx work most of them wants it in 30-60days max. Can we do VFx shot here YES WE CAN but the industry is not ready
Re: Are There No VFX Specialist In Nigeria? by excell0001: 6:57pm On Jan 15, 2022
it takes Hollywood up to a year to render a high end movie with personalized software and beast devices. how many people have such here but any ways we dey come.
ordinary motion tracking I did today pc crash. my dear we would get there
Re: Are There No VFX Specialist In Nigeria? by excell0001: 7:01pm On Jan 15, 2022
another issue is most vfx artist use already prepared models that do not allow full manipulation like lighting and rigging. that's where my team would come in
