Igbos Are Marginalized & They Can't Stop Where Nigeria Has Kept Them - Ohakim & Peter Obi

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has reiterated the need for Igbos to continue their fight for freedom. On Saturday 27th May, 2017, he advised Igbos to invest in themselves. While calling for restructuring of the country, he stressed that they must not remain where Nigeria kept them.

Mr. Obi made the remark while speaking at the World Igbo Congress, WIC, summit in Enugu State. The former governor also urged Igbo’s to identify with their leaders in the push for restructuring. In his words:

“I believe in the restructure of Nigeria but for us as Ndigbo, emphasis should be on investing in our future more that political demands. “We should invest in education; knowledge, because the future of the world is knowledge- driven economy.

“Are we going to die talking about yesterday? We should show love and care for ourselves. We should encourage local investments. “Position and power is not all that matters. Ndigbo must not stop where Nigeria dropped us.”

In the same vein, the former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, has called for a change of the current political system in the country which concentrates power at the centre, saying Igbos are largely marginalised under the arrangement.

According to Daily Post, Ohakim made the call at the inaugural Chinua Achebe International Conference held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, on Saturday. He spoke on the topic, “The Igbo and the leadership question: The Achebe example.”

The former governor also noted that Igbo people were the major victims of the economic recession. In Ohakim's words:

“The Federal Government created a national intervention project in 2006 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo to restore peace and promote a sense of belonging in the country. ”This gave rise to the N400bn East – West Road project, the N600bn Kano/ Maiduguri Road project, the N200bn Lokoja/Abaji/ Abuja Road project and the N150bn Ibadan /Ogbomosho /Oshogbo Road.

“But curiously, the South-East was left out. When we demanded an explanation, we were promised the second Niger Bridge but alas, this project is being pushed to a public-private partnership arrangement with a tolling scheme to recoup the cost of the project.

“Is this a fair deal for Ndigbo? We must continue to ask for our own share of the 2006 National Intervention Fund.”

Ohakim who was the former governor of Imo State and Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State has been termed in many years as defiant governors and many called them "the governors without godfathers" because of the way they carried out their duties.

Peter obi and coes should stop referring to themselves as igbo leaders if they're busy pushing for the restructuring of the country while the voters are calling for a referendum for Biafran secession, ipob must ensure that the current corrupt crop of leaders must be voted out starting from the November 18 governorship election. if Peter obi should contest as the running mate of atiku abubarkar as expected, we should repay him accordingly for his betrayal. God bless Biafra, the land of the rising sun.

This is stupidity to be honest ...are we really being marginalized??

See as far as am concerned Igbo's control Nigeria..

.that's the fact we control Nigeria economy

We control Nigerian banks (65%)

We control the Nigerian markets

All we need is to produce what we sell and that's it ...

With our banks zenith, uba ,union ,uba ,fedelity ,diamond and the rest behind us we can industrialize as much as we want

The tax gotten from aba and OSHA can transform this towns to world class town

Can't aba generate a revenue of 200 bn per year ?? Think what that will do for aba in 10 years

Our politicians have failed us ...we just help them by giving them excus ..and that's not good
